I don't use social media, and don't know what it even is. But I thought that it was called a "national security threat" to Americans once before?

I think the law says it needs to be owned by an American interest. I guess the thinking is an American company would be subject to American privacy laws if those actually exist.

Blackmail only works if the information you collected was legit. But yes you can definitely collect information on an enemies list with it. As far as TT it needs to sold to some Americans. Lots of good Chinese people in the world. The ones that belong to the CCP not so much. If I had my way we would decouple from them tomorrow for National Security reasons. Unfortunately many experts in the financial world understand it will take a little more time.

I don't disagree but be careful what you wish for. Some people are harder to deal with face to face.

I mean we let Chinese spy Fang Fang screw a Rep for inside knowledge and Schiff to lie so what's the big deal.
What-abouts. Love them..........first it was that Tik Tok was a "national security risk" and that nobody can trust Chinese owners.......to now saying we should have American "joint-ownership" in it with the Chinese?

Next flip-flop is crypto.......once said "a scam against the dollar" to now being called the "first crypto president".

I haven't said a word about crypto. The problem with TikTok is Chinese are playing a long game and 15 years isn't a long time to keep info in storage. I thnk it should be sold but what do I know,

I'm not a fan of Crypto replacing the dollar. I still voted for him. We got bigger problems than a handful of nerds that like that kind of stuff. He just appointed someone that said no to a CBDC.

I think you are missing the point altogether.

He’s trying to play gotcha on a very nuanced discussion. By setting the boundaries of the discussion eliminating the context, he thinks he’s making a valid point. I haven’t weighed in on it because it’s so transparent it’s just dumb.

If you try to apply nuance and context, it’s “derp, you’re flip flopping, derp derp.”

In the current form, yes, it’s National Security problem. People are beyond dumb who are using it.

If Trump negotiates the purchase of majority ownership and we’re able to constrain the spyware, malware, data security, and social engineering elements of it? It will cease being a National Security Threat.

So…..”IF”…… but currently it’s still a “threat” that we allowed to extend 90 more days? Good plan.

There it is….you forgot the derp derp.

The damage is basically done at this point, another 90 days isn’t going to bring the empire down. This should’ve been done 2 years ago.

My dude, that’s like 90% of our goods. That said, I agree with you. We should decouple immediately from China.
How in the hell did we climb in bed with a pit viper? I can understand some cheap **** but we let a communist enemy make our needs ... talk about being sold out

Greedy rich people and politicians looking for personal gain?
Can't say your wrong.
Just blows my mind that a American can justify selling us out.
I understand working hard and investing to get all a person can get but at the cost of doing business with those who hate our way of life.....
