So it seems Chris Jones will ask for his release from Tenn....

Maybe he could play the 2.

"Jones is a player who has never met a shot he doesn't like. However
with his ability to fill it up, that isn't a bad thing. Jones is one of
the best pure scorers in the class and is capable of going for 40 in
any game. He has to do a better job of getting others involved and
making teammates better, but the kid can flat out get buckets."

Tranny and Elgin are both gone. I know there was interest in the great White Hype JC transfer from Tenn., but he is not official yet.

if they pull a big name like an Anderson, he might bring a recruit or two with him

what is Stansbury waiting on? To get more on the hot seat. There are players out there and we've got 3 open spots. How bout a guard that is super fast on the fast break and a deadly 3 point shooter, a bruising rebounder, a Varnado shot blocker.

He and Deville can compete for the PG spot and the whoever doesn't get it can still provide depth.

for a guy with 3 out of 5 losing seasons in the Sunbelt and only 1 NCAA appearance (1st round loss) and 1 NIT appearance (1st round loss) on his resume. They may make a great hire, but with their history I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

is about to rear it's ugly head. Too many transfers have finally caught up with us, but the staff is trying to work around what they feel is going to happen.

and once he saw what a circus and cluster-17 it was after a couple of days, they had to hire Pelphrey.

They have changed administration since then (we know firsthand how important that is), as well as had Pelphrey clean the mess up. ****, they have their best recruiting class coming in in years, and they fire the damn coach. Bang on Pel all you want as a coach- but you cant look back honestly at the last 3 years and say they have had as much talent as us. Now you can say he didnt recruit well enough, but even he had improved that going into next season.

They are willing to pay 2 million a season and have a top 5 recruiting class coming in- it's got to be tempting for no other reason than those 2 things right there. And if they do hire a name- he could easily bring a couple more recruits with him. Something to watch anyway

Out of curiosity, how come we can't expect Hood, Smith and Garner to contribute much next year, yet Arkansas' incoming class is going to lead them to an SEC West title? You have consistently said that our guys will be freshman and we shouldn't expect much from them. If freshmen can't contribute, then why is going to make a difference if Anderson adds one more recruit to Arkansas' vaunted class?

Stans wins 17 games, signs a great class, and does so without his two most talented players for much of the season, but Pelphrey should be retained for winning 18 games and signing a great class? I'm not a Stans fan, but your hypocrisy on this issue is laughable. We are going to kick Arkansas' *** again next year. Twice.

Arkansas' incoming class isn't going to diminish the fact that their best post player is 6'6'' and their leading scorer is undersized, a defensive liability, and struggles to create his own shot.

"Out of curiosity, how come we can't expect Hood, Smith and Garner to contribute much next year, yet Arkansas incoming class is going to lead them 'to an SEC West title? "

I do expect expect Hood, Smith, and Garner to contribute- they have to, we have no choice. My point is that I dont think that these guys as true freshmen will give us better play than Rayvern and Kodi did as seniors. Hood wont be able to shoot the ball like Rayvern, nor drive to the basket as well as Rayvern did this past season. Now, I'm not saying Hood wont ever be better than Rayvern, but he wont be as a Freshman. Kodi was 2nd in the SEC in double-doubles- I'll be shocked if we get that out of Moultrie next season. Moultie shoot 22% from 3 as a Soph- so he isnt much of an outside shooting threat either. As much **** as Augustus got about shooting 3's- he shot 33.5% for his career.
We also have questions about Steele's recovery, which are rumored to be very slow.

So I basically dont think we will be much better next season, if at all- even with Bost and Sidney improving. Plus, we have the same coach.

Upig has alot of their top players returning from an 18 win team. They only lose 2 of their top 8- we lost 3 of our top 5. Their freshman- rated higher as a class than ours, will help improve their talent level, and supplement what they already have. Their guys will have some growth issues just like ours will. Here's the key- what they are bringing in is better than what they lost in 2011. I dont think thats the case with us.

I think Bama is going to win the West with what they have returning, and I think we will fight UPig for 2nd...with LSU being a dangerous team that pulls a few upsets.

"You have consistently said that our guys will be freshman and we shouldn't expect much from them. If freshmen can't contribute, then why is going to make a difference if Anderson adds one more recruit to Arkansas' vaunted class?"

aGAIN- i dont think our true freshmen will be better than the seniors we just lost in 2012. 2013will be a different story.

"Stans wins 17 games, signs a great class, and does so without his two most talented players for much of the season, but Pelphrey should be retained for winning 18 games and signing a great class?"

We have gotten worse each of the last2 seasons- they have gotten better each of the last 2...he was cleaning up a mess- thats the only reason he should have gotten one more season.

"Arkansas' incoming class isn't going to diminish the fact that their best post player is 6'6'' and their leading scorer is undersized, a defensive liability, and struggles to create his own shot"

Thats why we play the games and what keeps people attending them. You have your opinion- I have mine. And I think they will be better next season- not great, but better. And you dont have to have a great team to win games in the SEC West.

Two straight NIT appearances followed with a CBI appearance and after getting the Oregon gig, going 17-17, so yeah, Arkansas was this close to hiring a guy that in the four years since turning down the job, hasn't been to the NCAA tourney.

a majority of fans thought we were a shoo-in for the NCAA Tourney in 2010 when we had 5 starters returning- didnt happen

a majority of fans back in November and December thought we were going to have a shot at winning the SEC title this year and could win the SEC Tourney- didnt happen

The thought that next year's team wont live up to expectations is not without merit

I do think we will have more trouble replacing Ravern than anyone wants to admit. He may have been a dipshit, but he still had the potential to go for 30 anytime he stepped on the court.

I'm actually somewhat of a Kodi fan, but I think Moultrie can replace him. Kodi played hard this year and had some good games, but he still made a lot of boneheaded mistakes. Moultrie supposedly has a really high basketball IQ. If he can average 10 or 11 points and seven or so boards a game without Kodi's turnovers then I will consider that a win. I'm pretty sure Moultrie would have started over Kodi this year.

I'm really hoping Lewis continues to progress and that we get Jurick. From all accounts Jurick is borderline "special," but he is huge and could be an intimidating guy to bring off the bench.

reporting Kevin Ware 4* top 100 commit for Tennessee is also asking for his release. Things are Rocky for Rocky Top. Both their signees want out and I seriously doubt Scotty and Tobias will come back. I'd love to get Tobias Harris but that's just dreaming. He's a 1st round NBA pick this year.

and expecting that from him isnt unreasonable at all. But one thing we have to think about is that the 2012 team wont be able to stretch the defense like the 2010 and 2011 teams. Teams had to step out on Kodi and practically guard Rayvern on the 3 pt line- it wont be that way with Hood and Moultrie. So teams will compress the lane a little more, making it harder to drive the lane or giving Sidney a big lane to work with down low.

I just looked up Jurick. Couldn't find him on Scout but found him on Rivals. Avg. rating of 4stars by 6 users but no rating by Rivals. He has a nice list of offers and is HUUUGE. For some reason I've never heard of him till just now. What can you tell me about him and what kind of chance we have. He's got two visits set up so far it looks like and one of them is us.

Heard that Reik may be interested in USM. I don't think USM coaches have contacted him, but the word is that he may be at USM next year.</p>

He redshirted his freshman year and then played very little as a redshirt freshman. He transferred to a JUCO in Chattanooga (I think) where he is averaging almost a triple double. 10 points, 12 boards and around 10 blocks.

He wouldn't be a starter, but he could give us some defense and rebounding off of the bench. However, he is supposedly dumb as a brick and has trouble understanding what to do on the court. It has also been rumored that he may have had an off the court issue or two.

He is visiting SBW, and we appear to be in good shape to find sign him. I want to sign him strictly to see the looks on the faces of the blue hairs when this 6'11," meth head-looking, acne and flame tattoo sporting hillbilly runs out in the Hump. It would be awesome. Between he and Sidney, we would have the most gangsta front court ever.
