Don't know enough about the Wage Scale to have an opinion. Even as an ardent supporter of the "Shall Issue", I'm personally not real sure about the Constitutional Carry stuff.going to be hitting the Gov's desk this year.
It won't surprise me to see both get vetoed by him and then overturned.
This legislature is killing this state.
After they eliminate prevailing wage and implement right to work, there will be more and more people on welfare and SS and the state will go further in debt.

There aren't very many jobs here for most people anymore. There are a lot of reasons for it, I'm just trying to find the one I can blame on Bush.
We used to have a lot of coal jobs, the steel mills, etc. The plant my dad worked at for decades just shut down and is gone now. Other than some things in the technology corridor, there isn't anything to draw people into the state. Our leadership has mostly catered to the coal companies without any thought of an exit strategy when those jobs were gone.
I think we should legalize weed and move to that. We already have the climate, topology and knowhow.
Agree and I'm with you on the weed deal since its the largest cash crop in the state. P.S..... Maybe you can school Country a little about the past history of state government in this state.
Should I be forced to join a union if I don't want to?After they eliminate prevailing wage and implement right to work, there will be more and more people on welfare and SS and the state will go further in debt.
Class Wars!!!!!! Dis gon be da shiznit!Past history isn't good ... but I don't see where the current crop is helping anything either. Seems like they want everybody to be poor, desperate, and well armed ... what could possibly go wrong?

Nice try........and what Planet did you just arrive from? We all know you aren't the "sharpest knife in the drawer" but you have really outdone yourself with this one.
Don't talk like that with Airport around.
I don't see the endgame or the "out" for the state with the stuff they are passing. As a former union worker, I wholly agree with "right to work", but am also concerned about abuses by employers. There is certainly a long history of exploitation of the people and natural resources. I'm a bit apprehensive about making this easier for them to do even more.
Ideally the representatives would be working on new industries. Mostly I just see bitching and moaning about Obama and the EPA, while ignoring that coal mining jobs represent a very small percentage of jobs now. Where did all those jobs go? What has replaced them?

Hey born yesterday, do you agree with Forced Pooling? That is the exact mentality of this legislature.
Not yet, but they want it to pass badly.

Since I live in Va and have for the last 31 years, it's hard for me to know what's good for WV. I know that RTW states have a leg up in attracting new business. The SS/disability fraud that goes on does not encourage businesses to locate there. If you watch the ads on TV for NY, they advertise how there taxes for business is the lowest in decades. If NY wasn't being hurt, do you think that they would be advertising this approach. Courts can protect workers better than unions. I think change is difficult but not having any new businesses and jobs is more difficult. Maybe it's time for a different appraoch
And what is the era in which natural resources industries were abusive? There were changes made to the coal industry with unionization. Likewise the factory workers. And can include longshoremen. That was a different era unless you have some kind of report of modern day abuse which I am very doubtful. I think you have used Blankenship as your straw man in the past. Do you have some evidence of industry wide misuse? No one is currently forced to join a union, not anywhere in this state.
But it does not provide a vote for any of the politicians when people realize they can and will provide for themselves.People seem to forget about the new tax revenues that would be generated by the new jobs. Very simple, more paid employees= more tax revenue from payroll,to the money those employees spend and the property they own. .

No.....did it pass? I was smart enough when I did a gas lease on property we owned to force the gas company to rewrite the contract and declare our property a separate unit instead of part of a unit that included other land owners.

If you can add jobs. Lower wages means lower tax revenues, fewer contributions to SS, Medicare/Medicaid.
I never mentioned lowering wages. I am for lowering the business tax. One of the arguments for a lower business tax rate is that the business's may be able to pay a higher wage. Some tax revenue is better than NO tax revenue. Also who pays when a person and families have ZERO income? Business's need a reason to come to WV. I'm willing to try something different. The coal industry and past WV lawmakers have destroyed this state.
I don't have any problems whatsoever with giving companies tax breaks or incentives to attract them here. Look at what we did with Toyota and who was primarily responsible for getting them here? Rockefeller, one of those nasty dems that you guys like to say is part of the same old same old.
What I am against, is out of state companies (coal mining companies) making billions at the expense of hard working middle class WVians, then declaring bankruptcy (Freedom Industries after poisoning our water) when something goes wrong and we WVians are left out in the cold with no retirement and not much to show for a lifetime of hard work and sacrificing our health.
That is what this legislature is all about.
then declaring bankruptcy (Freedom Industries after poisoning our water)
Eliminating Prevailing Wage is lowering wages. DUH!
You forgot to mention all of the HUGE bonuses they gave the executives
If a few may lose a little so that many may gain is OK with me.
Spoken like a true Democrat.![]()
How many wages would be lowered. If a few may lose a little so that many may gain is OK with me.
