So let's say you win the CBI or CIT

If you are from a legit conference, and aren't a Northwestern or something, do you hang a championship banner?

A winning record should be enough to get you into the NIT, and you can't play a postseason tournament with a losing record.

Though a handful of teams have.

Oregon State is playing in the CBI this year. In fact, they're looking to defend their 2009 CBI title. Stanford played in it in 2009 with Oregon State, and UVA and Washington both played in the 2008 tourney. In the SEC this year, Alabama would be eligible for the CBI, but I'm sure they would've turned it down if offered. We were eligible last year, and I don't know if they tried to get us a bid, but we definitely would've turned it down.

The CIT is actually designated for mid-majors only, so they don't invite major conference tourney teams. USM is in the CIT though this year. Maybe they could be NITCITChampsburg.

You can buy your way into those tourneys. We were talking about this on the MTSU board. MTSU is like #170 this year. If these tourneys were legit, they would take teams from within the top 130. The only reason MTSU is in it (and some of the other schools) is because they were the next team willing to pay to play. Teams that are hosting these games paid more (At least 30,000 for the CIT or 60,000 for the CBI).

So if MTSU hangs any banner it would be for the Sun Belt co-championship. At the bottom of that banner, they could have in smaller print CIT Tournament, CIT Championship, CIT Final Four.

To hang a banner specifically to brag about a third rate tourney you can buy your way into would be pathetic.
