So lets think about this for a minute...

We return a top 5 sec quarterback, a top 5 sec running back, almost the entire line except smith who hardly played, but we loose experienced wide receivers that couldn't get seperation. Please share your thoughts on this. I think offensively we could be a threat next year.

If the oline stays healthy, I think we have a big year offensively. I'm hoping we utilize te's more and automatically bring dak in inside the 10.

That's true but we threatened to fire him and just from what he's done in the offseason looks like he wants to change it up. I'm not saying we'll be top ten offensively, but I could see us making some big plays in those toss up games if our defense can hold its weight.

In the minority, but I don't like the idea of TR doing more from under center...

I have read they have spent more and more time this spring getting Tyler from under center....he didn't do much of that in high school or in his first 4 years at state....its almost like they are trying to make a case for him to be an NFL draft pick....I just dont think he has it in his knees and ankles....

what i did like reading was them working with him on his checkdowns....tyler's biggest assest is being able to make a pass down the field accurately, but teams caught on to him late in the season that he wasn't throwing the pass short to the RBs or the slot when he was pressured....this is in my opinion the single one thing that the ole miss coaches eyed on and won the egg bowl. Put Pressure on TR and he will force downfield throws because he wont do the dump off.....I think its the one thing relf did well (besides accuracy).....hope they worked a bit on it.....

but having better receivers is going to help too, but the biggest thing about WRs and a QB is being on the same page....TR and Bump finally "got it" this past year....be we dont have bump any more....

i have high expectations for TR, but if our staff doesnt get better at in game adjustments, im expecting a 5-7, 6-6 type season

I disagree that we return a top 5 SEC running back. I would trade for any of the running backs Bama has on the 3 deep depth chart.

Not if we used Perkins right. Perkins could be the best screen rb in the sec. If we ran screens and swing passes (both of which would slow down opposing team's rush), Perkins would explode this year and so would our offense

Supposedly what I'm hearing about Perkins is he's an absolute animal and whatever happened to the little dump off screens they threw to Perkins? It might take so practice for our wide receivers to get on the same page but look at the height difference this year from last... I wish we could've gotten this group last year so they had experience. Think about it like this if they have Tyler going under center he is and still getting plenty of practice going under center since he's the only quarterback.

Almost called Jinx on myself

We return the same offensive coordinator as well. This is why we won't be a threat.
I was thinking the same thing as I read the comment. Totally agree. Lack of ingenuity.

We know the OL can pass block, but can they now open up some running lanes? Can our "Top 5 SEC" RB consistently run between the tackles? If not, our revamped offense won't be worth a crap because the LBs won't respect the run. Plus, we've got to keep the chains moving, the clock running, and the offense on the field.

No doubt TR will put on a show slinging the ball around. I thin we'll see improved speed/separation from the WRs. But I expect drops a la 2011 - which wasn't terrible, just frustrating.

Balanced - not "threat" - is the key word.

Only a Mississippi State fan would trade a 5th year senior that is about 1,000 yards away from becoming our career leader in all purpose yards.

Don't know about Bama's 3rd team RB, but their first two are TJ Yeldon and Eddie Lacy. As much as I like Perkins, I would trade him in a heartbeat for either one of those two.

Perkins is built a lot like Mike Tyson was at 18. The trade off is running finesse and that initial burst that we saw from Perkins as a freshman. I think it's the biggest reason we haven't seen the dump pass the last two years. That and the staff being focused solely on making Perk a power style rb. His body has changed to more of a running back mold. He's been bulked up. I've noticed the difference and the quick burst is gone. On the other hand, he's better at handling initial contact and can still run well once he gets past 1st gear.

Eddie Lacy plays for the Green Bay Packers. I'd still take his replacement though.

I think our game in Houston is going to be a good one I think we will be a better team then last year but our schedule is harder... I wish we had that thunder we use to have on defense.

Perkins would show out behind bama's oline. If we wanna trade with bama, it should be oline we trade

Lose. Separation. (Sorry ... couldn't help myself).

But I agree with you ... I think we're going to be a force to be reckoned with this fall. I see nothing but good things ... except our SEC West schedule.

When do you think we'll actually start putting some serious money towards assistant coaches?

Their third team RB is Kenyan Drake. Of course, I think they are 5 deep for 2013.

Don't know ...

but we'll have to if we want good ones and keep them. Our funds have increased a lot recently, but so have expenditures. We just need to raise more money.

I saw that after a couple of guys called me out on Eddie Lacy. He was a 4* recruit (or as Alabama calls it a project player). Averaged over 6 yards per carry last year.
