[Greg MF'n Byrne called Tyler Russell today. Russell tells Veazey ...]:

He said he really is looking for a guy that probably likes to open up the offense, is what he told me.
Among the rumored candidates then you could go with:

Patterson
Graham/Malzahn
Bowden
[I refuse to type in Petersen the Pipe Dream].

seems to run a lot of option stuff, or at least he used to out of two receiver sets.

I haven't watched his team in years though, so maybe he has changed.

But his name always seems to come up for every job opening and no one ever hires him. It kind of makes you wonder.

Now, Todd Graham- that's what I'm talking about there.

such a "pipe dream" as many have stated. I mean Bill Cower or Jimmy Johnson or Gruden or Saban would be a pipe dream. Hiring a guy away from Boise State who supposedly has ties to your AD just doesn't seem completely out of the question or a "pipe dream" to me. Maybe I'm missing something.

Patterson is a defensive coach in background. Basic fundamental, ball control run-oriented offense and knock your pecker in the dirt defense. Nothing wide open about him.

Graham from tulsa would definitely open it up and his teams both places he has been have put up some serious yardage. If we hire bowden it will be a miserable let down. The guy had trouble winning 8 games with the talent he had at clemson, i mean **** they had spiller and davis in the acc and consistently played below their potential. Leave him on the trash heap.

Florida would have no trouble hanging 100 on him and there are half a dozen other SEC offenses that could hang 40 on him, and SEC offenses as a general rule suck this year. But I can promise you that SEC defenses would have no trouble slowing down his gimmick offense. And for the record, I am not one of the ones who said that about Urban Meyer when Florida hired him. I said the day he was hired that he'd win at least one national championship at Florida.

No Bowden. If his last name was Smith or Jones, he would have never gone as far as he did up the ladder. He's mediocre. If he can't win more than 6 - 7 games in the ACC at a school like Clemson, you can extapolate that would equal a max of 5-6 wins at MSU/in SEC. He rode Rich Rodriguez's offense to get the Clemson job, then RR left and look what happened. This guy would be a second coming of Rockey Felker.
