Outside the Lines missed these things:

1. Establishing that Sidney's father being paid to coach an AAU team that sidney played for automatically changes his amateur status. (no kid in college could ever play for a father who coaches that team and we KNOW that isnt true)

2. That USC and UCLA didnt arbitrarily 'back off'. They backed off because it looked like they ARRANGED for the aau deal with the family to get the kid out to California.

3. That the NCAA is at a dead end and the defacto suspension is the only thing they have.

all the trouble, and the possibility of having to forfeit wins at some time during the future if he does end up playing...just too controversial and convoluted an affair.

This whole thing is a huge distraction. Hopefully the NCAA will finalize it soon so that we can move on. A basketball season is extremely draining on the entire team, and this just doesn't help. He would really help us win games (and I'm sure his skills are a great asset in practice), but right now this whole situation is weighing the program down. If he's cleared... Great, we're most likely a much better team. If he's not... OK, now we can move on and have a sharper focus for the rest of the season.

The problem is I doubt he plays even if there is an injunction from the court. We need a yeah or nah from the NCAA. You do get to see the house in LA and it looked pretty nice for a janitor to live in. The good thing is that we are getting some air-time and the NCAA will feel some heat to make some type of decision.
