what's the leash you have on him?

If he opens with no points on the first two drives - do you sit him? Do you sit him after the first drive with no points?

I sit him at random times to keep everyone guessing. And I will bring him back in on 3rd down and have him run the ball for no gain. They will never see it coming. Or maybe at this point they will.

Let him play his game. If he is not !00%, he will get hit and will have to come out of the game.

What I would do - Shapen gets first 2 series, then Taylor gets the 3rd. Go from there based on performance.

What Lebby will do - Same thing he's done the first 10 games. Use Taylor at seemingly random times and situations that seem to make no clear logical sense.

If he doesn't have a chance to drop back and make it through more than 2 progressions and we aren't moving the ball then give KT a chance. Shapen is a better QB right now but he needs time to make a play. KT may break one playing backyard football or at least make them spy him. Hopefully the Showtime guru has game planned for Shapen to get the ball out quick and if we have to go to KT more mixed in RPO, QB runs and misdirection, etc.

Not to sound like a d*ck, but I don’t think it 17ing matters as long as Lebby is on the sideline. Unless Shapen’s in a wheelchair, he’s playing

Better question. If we bench shapen, what’s the leash on Kamario?

is it 1 overthrown ball or 6? What if he misses a wide open guy on 3rd and 7 by 8 ft?

KAMARIO ISNT READY TO BE THE STARTING QB.

It’s not even close between the 2.

It’s funny we say this. Last weekend he brought kamario in at a random time and called a pass play that was wide open. If Kamario makes the play, Lenny is a genius.

but instead it was overthrown by 10 feet.

Correct, but, he won't ever be ready if he doesn't get any real playing time and learn from his mistakes, i.e. give him meaningful plays and throws not just a run every time he appears. This season has been better than I anticipated but it has still sucked and its time to get him ready for next season, assuming he stays...............which is another reason to give him MEANINGFUL playing time

Now isn't the time to get kamario experience. We are trying to win right now. Shapen gives us the best shot to get to 6 wins. Maybe (unprobable but maybe) 7 wins.

He has gotten plays that mean something. Hes gotten passes that mean something and hes not ready.

Against Georgia last week early in the game and we are still in it he has a pass on 1st and 15. Wide open. He misses by 10 ft.

No leash related to him technically but if the line isn't protecting him or failing to produce a running threat then you need KT in there a couple of series to get them on their heels as a change of approach. Shapen produces as much as the guys up front allow him to.

I agree with you about Shapen in regards to the current year.

But this is big business college football. We are now eliminated from anything significant (playoff and bigger payout bowls). The decision is about next season - whether a minor bowl and bowl practice is a better use of time than recruiting. If you will use the bowl and practice to get guys reps that are coming back next season, sure. But we also need to use the next two games for that as well.

You always need to be looking forward to a possible playoff run. That will payoff in the long run more than any bowl. And even if it means a bad year after said playoff run. Aiming for a minor bowl is 20 years ago thinking. I know the portal doesn't open until January but December is still the Wild Wild West.

He'll be fine for next year with or without a couple of late season starts this year. But the #1 priority is to win games THIS year. We've got a chance to go to a freaking bowl game after one of the worst seasons in our history. You play the game to win TODAY. Developing a QB for next year is a distant secondary goal. If Taylor gives us the best chance to win Saturday, by all means start him. If not, you can't start him. The number of people who seem to have no clue about wanting to compete to win on this board amazes me.

It will probably take care of itself. If he gets protection he might do OK. If he is sacked once or twice he will probably have to come out of the game due to injury.

I do not see us winning with him in the game because we must have a QB run threat to have any chance in this game and he gives us none.

Like most things in life, it depends.

If we go 3 & out on consecutive drives to start the game AND the defense is giving up scores, I think you gotta make a move no later than the third non-scoring series.

I’m not sure what the plan is, but I just hope he stays healthy. He’s giving us everything he’s got out there, and that deserves respect. I ran into a former Bulldog great from the ’80s this week who’s clearly dealing with CTE—it was tough and really sad to see.
