So, that happened...

Well we got rolled (as the scoreboard showed) at T-town tonight. But, we're not as bad of a team as the scoreboard showed, obviously. Our special teams are atrocious, and what the hell was Tyler throwing at on 3rd and goal, etc., but how do we respond? I've been a State fan for too long for my personal health, and I have to say that all preseason predictions aside, this still has the chance to be a hell of a season. The "experts" will tell you tonight was the test of what kind of team we are. I maintain that next weekend will be the test. Alabama is a hell of a team with a hell of coach, and they're a machine that you can't make mistakes against (that blocked FG that would've put it 7-3 turned the whole tide, no pun intended), and while we could've beaten them, it's not a shame to lose to them.

Can we come back next weekend and show what kind of team we really are? I say that's the test of what kind of team we are. We're not a #1 in the country team, and anyone who thought we were is obviously delusional. We're better than aTm, though. The true test of this team and this coaching staff will be to see what happens next weekend. Can they take a punch in the face, regain themselves, remember who they are, and beat the newbies? That's where we'll see what kind of team we have.

I guess now we're playing for 11-1. Hell, as a 27 year State fan, 10-2 is a hell of season, and I'll take it and ring my bell at the bowl game. The test of this team didn't happen tonight. It'll happen next weekend.

If anyone on this board says they'd be unhappy with a 10-2 season, I'd say, "You serious, Clark?"

I agree. As a graduate and fan of Mississippi State I can honestly never remember a time where I feel better about our chances against LSU than I do this year. Forget Bama. They are the number 1 team in the nation and we aren't there yet but we are a damn bit better than any other west team. We played them hard but we had a lot of bad breaks go against us. Regroup next Saturday against aTm and we roll through the rest. 11-1 is very doable and will be the best record in my lifetime.

Georgia was beaten just as bad last week by South Carolina

They looked pathetic, and they came back this week and beat Florida handily. All is not lost for us. We just ran up against the #1 buzzsaw in the country, a team that will make anybody look bad.

Well crap, I was just wording up MY first post and you went and wrote every thought I had, although far more eloquently. Yeah, this game turned on a few different plays tonight. Blocked kick, holding calls that really wouldn't have affected the plays outcome, uncharacteristic poor coverage on less than spectacular routes, false starts, dropped interception, etc, etc, etc. Even after pissing away opportunities early and often, that long sustained drive was a thing of beauty, despite the outcome. Has anyone ever methodically driven 97 yards on a Nick Saban 1st string defense? No one should be pleased with what we witnessed tonight, but it really doesn't dampen my optimism for the remaining games. I think this team will shake this off, focus and play hard the rest of the way. I like our chances in all four of these games, including LSU.

For most teams to beat Bama, they're going to have to play flawlessly, and hope Bama makes a few mistakes. The blocked fg really didn't matter... Bama simply didn't screw up any.. We did.

Yeah, GA bounced back and so can we. GA also got six turnovers from FLA, or else that game is very different.

The Saints would have to play flawlessly...and the blocked field goal did matter. If we had put points on the board, the defense may have been energized from the response. Going straight down the field and getting nothing is deflating.

I won't say happy, but we will be lucky to go 8-4.

We will have a chance to win 3 more games
ATM, ARK, and UM
ATM and ARK are at home and rank near the bottom of the league in total defense
UM scares me the most out of these 3 because it is away and they want to win so badly after losing 3 in a row
