So the story is being to develop and the Stans bashers may have to take a step back

So, Turner missed "at least two" end of year meetings. And Phil failed to mention it when he fired off about the letter.<div>How 'bout this as your scenario:</div><div>Turner gets a big head and thinks he doesn't need to show up for meetings. Maybe he's ambivalent about returning to school. Either way, not being a team leader.</div><div>Stans gives him a deadline to decide. Deadline passes. Stans makes it official.</div><div>
</div><div>There are several here who've never let common sense or the benefit of the doubt come between them and assuming the worst about Stansbury.</div><div>If he's guilty of anything, it's recruiting idiots like Bost and Turner.</div>

Didnt read about the 2nd.

Not sure why missing an end of year meeting would warrant being tossed off the team.
Runs laps? Sure
DNP for a game? Sure

Thrown off the team? Just slightly extreme.

If this is all that happened, then damn thats extreme. If there is more and its a bunch of things combined and this is just the straw that broke everything, then lets hear everything else.

Supposedly he told staff he wasn't coming back to go along with missing the meeting(s).

Seems like we were reading a couple of months ago here that Turner wasn't coming back and that he was graduating. Yesterday's news makes it sound like this all happened in the last couple of weeks.

The letter made it official and was the proper course and way to handle it. Phil even knew the coaches were trying to help him get on a team in Europe. This is typical Veazey and Stans went after Moutrie full blast which will end up being what is best for MSU. Turner knew he could not play the point and more than likely would not have played much with what we have coming back and coming in next year. Just another story to give coach and his clonies something to spout off about.

Who in the hell was going to keep Turner from at least playing 15-20 mins a game next year? He would have been the 6th man at the very worst.

So we lose out best interior defender and perimeter defender. The perimeter defender was also one of out better scorers.
And we bring in a JUCO player, a redshirt frosh who apparently has a fake hip at this point, and a low rated SG.

I dont see anyone there that would not only fill Stewart's shoes, but also force Turner to not play much.

Oh and as of now, our PG from last year isnt eligible either.

Seriously, he is a 5th year senior who has played 3 meaningful years of college ball. He has shown that he can play post D better than many of our post players thru the years too.
I dont see how you can not bench that sort of player when your options are a decent JUCO player, a totally inexperienced redshirt frosh with chronic hip issues, and a low rated true freshman.

1) Phil was a good team/help defender, but a terrible one on one defender. If you isolate him, he is lost. This is especially true on the perimeter. This is why he played the 4, because he couldn't guard 2s and 3s. <div>2) Phil shot 27% from three this year and 34% from the field. He also was a terrible dribbler. How does that make him one of our best scorers?</div><div>
</div><div>Phil regressed last year, as much as it hurts to admit it. He had a huge impact the year before by getting on some hot streaks, but those never really came last year. Sure, he hit a huge shot against LSU and was instrumental against UGA, but the rest of the year he struggled. Combine that with the fact that he wasn't going to be here working with everyone else at all this summer and I find it hard to believe that we are losing nearly as much basketball-wise as some people are trying to make it out to be.</div>

find it hard to believe come Nov and Dec...I dont give a **** how good Sidney is- this team wont make the NCAA's in 2011 now after what we have lost...and that will make only 2 trips in the last 6 years- and that is really unacceptable

Bost is going to play for us this year. Brian Bryant will back him up.Ravern, Smith, and Steele canplay the two position. Renardo will play at forward and so will Kodi. Ravern and someone else will probably play there too. Call ******** all you want to but you in your usual fashion simply use every situation to take a shot at our coach. I wonder if both of you are not closet rebels because you damn sure aren't dog supporters no matter how hard you try to convince us. Coachseldom if evergoes to a game, and yet his enterouge thinks a high school coach is an expert and falls right in line behind him. Veazey is pulling your chain and you fall for it hook line and sinker. Beleieve me, Turner knew over two weeks ago he was not going to play for us, now get over it.

Edit: damnit! like a noob responded to the wrong person. meant to respond to peaches.

You didn't expect us to make it in 2011 anyway, so why should you care?

I'll wait to see the product on the court this year come SEC time before passing judgement.

I was talking about Stewart. Stewart was out best perimeter defender and we lose him for next season.

Ok, i will agree that Bost will play for us next season. I will accept that.

And knowing that, the team is then 1 scholarship over the limit. So the coaches had to forcefully get rid of someone. Sweet, gotta love that. I am not sure how that is a good thing.

Im not saying they pushed Turner out, but he is the one that ultimately was told he isnt coming back. But they would have pushed someone out. Good to know.

He can't handle relationships with his players, just another one. As for Turner, didn't he make those freethrows in Tampa!
Stans needs to take the responsibility to set down with people and figure out a course of action, should have been a joint announcement.

I saw someone posted back in April that Turner's facebook status said "I'm done playing basketball and am moving to Atlanta". That happened in April or May. Something must have happened between April and June to change that. My guess is Turner thought he was going to graduate and ended up a few hours short, or maybe Turner simply changed his mind and decided to play.

I think Turner thought he was going to graduate > told the staff he wasn't playing in 2010 (hence Stan's "told us last year he wasn't playing" quote) > skipped out on end of the year meetings > then changed his mind. The staff didn't hold his spot or decided to cut him. He probably got the final word in the form of that letter Veazy jumped all over.

But you're right Med, there is a time lapse in all of this.Thats my best way to account for it.
