So this is what Mullen-style regression looks like

..notice nobody has responded to your thread topic.

It's because criticism of Dan Mullen is off limits here, unless dawgstudent & certain other sixpackspeak.com elitists are doing the criticizing.

Buckle up, State fans: Dan Mullen's "job interview" last night was a monumental flop.

That means as long as Dan Mullen semi-consistently beats the University of Mississippi, Dan Mullen is destined to be MSU's JoPa.

and no one seems to give a ****. We have serious, serious issues on all sides of the ball. Special teams is atrocious. And the sixpack line is that I'm a lunatic for criticizing Mullen.

Not to mention we also found out last night that Auburn is not very good.

as of two weeks ago everybody on here was worried he was gonna be bolting for another job opening as soon as possible, now it appears that that wont be as promising of an option.

I am not saying that I want Mullen gone or that he has failed but he is making me nervous.

I have always said that he gets 3-4 years before we judge him but he is making some coaching moves and mistakes that I just don't get.

There was never a time going in to last nights game that I thought that we would win but I did not expect us to completely **** the bed like we did.

I got called out last night for being critical of Mullen and that is fine that is what this board is for. I just don't understand where some of you are coming from. Mullen has done a great job of firing up our fans and putting asses in the seats but how long to do you guys think that will continue if he continues to have games like he did last night? We looked like total **** on special teams, which are coached by Mullen, we looked like **** on offense, which is Mullen's sweet spot, and the play calling would make any fan of football for longer than one season scratch their head.

I don't dislike Mullen, I actually am a big fan but the past two weeks have left me scratching my head.

Bottom line, some on here are willing to damn near fellate Mullen when he has done very little at this point other than beat our rival. Sooner or later, everyone on this board will come to the conclusion that it all comes down to Wins and Losses. I agree that Mullen has made some great strides and some great changes to the program but I am not ready to make the guy a Legend just yet. I am also not willing to make the guy a ****** coach but it is ok if I speak out and am critical of some of the things that I find questionable, and that list is growing each game at this point.

don't forget this team's last performance under crooms.. we don't have a qb and OL at this point than can operate a passing attack against what is probably the best DL we'll face this year in prolly the most hostile place to play in college football...

based on the shape this team was in, and what he's done, I think it is WAY too early to start judging this young coach of ours...

I'm still chalking up the last 2 games as growing pains... we are definitely in a growth pattern from where we were and it is unrealistic to expect or demand anything else... let's check out next Sat and see what happens before any towels are tossed

as a fan base, we have to start judging our coaches and teams by Wins and Losses, if not, what the hell are we doing?

in year 2 it was 28-0 to au and 37-7 to LSU ...those games were lost statistically much worse than the scores...

no comparison...

he can tweet and FB all he wants, but its about winning . All this ancillary crap is nice if you're coming out and looking good, even in losing.

The crap last nite resembled vintage Croom, 2006. We're paying this slouched-over cheerleader out of the wazoo to coach, so hire someone for ST and coach the damn offense

What the hell do you want us to do , beat an opponent we were a whopping1.5 pt underdog to at home? Mullen is just human and has only been a coach 15 games(those other 15 years don`t count for ****). You`re expecting entirely too much.</p>

Dan's performance last night was better than a LOT of Jackie's teams down there as well. See the 1998 MSU edition.

I don't think Dan is above criticism- I've done it myself, including last year's now infamous rant about the jump pass and Tyson Lee option play. But, we were down by 5 until that crazy *** Tyler Russell pick where he got hit and the DE picked it off. That was really the difference in the game to me, and what made it look worse than the score indicated.

But you'll have to excuse me for holding out judgement on Dan based on a game at LSU.
