We came into the offseason desperately needing DT/CB/OL, and it's been abundantly clear that Lebby also wants a QB

Since then, we've lost
- Six 4* and 90+ rated players
- Two QBs
- Essentially our entire WR room
- Three CBs
- In total, 24 guys with an average rating of 87.8
Look at this as how many contributors we lost. Parson, likely a HS 4 star, was never going to see the field here, and that's through two different coaching staffs, so not really a big loss. MVB = huge loss. Carter = huge loss. Creed, for whatever reason wasn't utilized effecting by this staff, so not as big a loss. Most our the 24 out, no matter their HS rating, were/are not big losses. Now, who replaces them.....that's the difference between 2-10 and 5-7.

I wouldn’t trust Arnetts staffs evaluation as far as I could throw it. Parson would probably have been a very good qb under Leach and still maybe will with a different team. creed is a really talented player, again, I don’t take much from the last two staffs as far as evaluations.

Concur on both points, but Parson couldn't beat out a true freshman.

I don't understand why Levee buried Creed on the depth chart, that's one of the many head scratching decisions made by Levee.

He couldnt beat him out or he wasnt Lebbys guy ? I dont know and neither do you. Leach knew a thing or two about quarterbacks. parson has talent. Creed , same story

I understand but that was the second staff that didn't put their trust Parson.

I'm a huge Leach fan so I trust him over just about any other coach.

Look when a coach handpicks and recruits a four star qb for his system, that guy may have a leg up on a leftover from two staffs ago. Thats just the way that works.

i wouldnt count on VB playing over Parson if Leach was the head coach.

Unfortunately, Levee may surpass him. At least Levee's staff did show promise like .00000000001% of the time.
I dont think Lebbys staff is as bad as Arnetts. arnett had a ten win roster he turned into 5-7. arnett would have went 2-10 as soon as he ran out of Leachs players and he would have looked much worse doing it

Meanwhile, we've landed
- Zero 4* 90+ rated players
- Zero QBs
- Zero DTs
- Zero OL
- An edge rusher that hasn't played in a year
- A WR that caught 19 passes last year
- In total, 6 guys with an average rating of 86.7

After a year in which we went 2-10 and complained all year about not having talent, by all objective measures, our coaching staff has somehow managed to downgrade the roster after the first week of the portal.

In all my years, this has to be the most inept combination of a MSU admin and coaching staff that I've ever witnessed
You forgot that DT that was working in a bologna factory

And there in lies the problem. We have message board heroes who think we are going to build Fort Knox in Starkville with our base fans who have never averaged more than $60,000-$75,000 a year in their lifetime. The Funding of our program is going to come from the wealthy alumni who have here-to-fore given 90% of their donations to the academic or infrastructure side. We don't need to build more dorms and name them after the donor. We need to build the money making program into a perpetual winner to grown the interest in the school!
We ain’t come to play school!

I’m just as frustrated as everyone else, but am I wrong for thinking that more guys will transfer after the bowl games are up? Seemsthat wave of transfers would be a better bunch. Then again, using maroon tinted glasses, we’ll lose them to other schools as usual…

I think they wanna fill the team out as much as possible and then maybe pick up a few missing pieces in the spring. His stated number of 15 give or take looks a lot more like it needs to be 25 give or take to me.....idk...seems like all we kept is Smith Blanton Tillman and 4 OL. Everybody else caught the bus out of town

Maybe I was a naive kid in the 80s. However 01-08 felt much more hopeless to me. Then 2009 everything turned.

I have a feeling when Selmon gets hired away and the wonder boy era ends.... things will get better. But it's going to be a long few years waiting them out.

You know, I’ve seen a lot of bad times as a state fan. We all have. Now I know some of you guys will pipe up about the 60’s and the 80’s, but looking at relatively modern state history (90’s until now), this feels different. This feels like we are heading down a path of becoming completely insignificant in the college football landscape and that we are going to be there for a long time. I hope I’m wrong, but I have been saying “I hope I’m wrong” for a while now. Thus far I have t been wrong
Careful bringing this hot take over to the paid board. You’ll be called a troll for simply calling a spade a spade.

Most likely scenario, we run out Shapen to start the year and Taylor levels in the portal after the season. Lebby returns for year theee.
