So...unless you have daughters or a girlfriend that makes you go, how much money would it take to make you go see "Barbie"?

If my sweet little 4 year old granddaughter wanted to go and see it, I would go, otherwise, I would rather watch a snail cross the finish line.

$3 million.

Do I have to stay for the whole movie?

I would go for $25,000 but to stay throughout would cost you $50,000

Our beverage cart young lady dressed as Barbie yesterday and I will say she pulled it off extremely well.

I won't be going, but if I did go, the only reason would be to watch Margot Robbie

I won’t spend money to go see it, but will probably check it out when it start streaming. Just looked up the trailer - seem like it could be some good, mindless fun. Will Ferrell will have some good lines.

So to answer the OP - if someone paid for my ticket and popcorn and gave me $20 - I’d probably do that.

Saw it. Very good movie. Some think it's the best movie, thus far, of the 21st century. Not sure about that. However, I will be surprised if Cillian Murphy, who played Oppenheimer, does not win the Oscar for "Best Actor".
Wish they'd have spent more time on Oppie's/Groves' relationship and all the headaches of Los Alamos. That was an exceptional portion of the bigger story that got overlooked.

I`m not sure there is enough money to make me go.
I gave this one some deep thought. I saw some of the clips. Definitely not my thing. Probably about $250. I'm sure my wife and a group of women & maybe some kids would tag along. I could pay their way. My wife watches the talk show clips of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. I think she has a closet fantasy about Ryan Gosling LOL. She goes into a trance when watching him. Personally, I loved Margot Robbie in The Wolf on Wallstreet. It's more my style.

I agree. That being said, it was a 3 hour long movie. I'm not sure my bladder could have held on without missing some scenes if it was longer. LOL

I would give it a look on one of the streaming services. It might have a decent plot that interests me.

The previews I saw of upcoming films were just horrible. But Hollywood mostly appeals to the heavy CGI/action crowd these days.

All the best stuff is now found in series/movies on stream services.

The trailer I just saw literally tells you to bring your mother, sister, and daughter to see the movie. Like it's important or something. 🤔

I saw a movie a few years ago called "Ready or Not" that starred a woman who (to me) is the spitting image of Margot Robbie, Samara Weaving. She's also from Australia, and the movie wasn't bad either.

Unless I was in middle school, I can't imagine having a girlfriend that would want to see the Barbie movie.

You do know it's proper etiquette to provided pics. :giggle:

We have no interest in seeing it. I cannot understand why Mattel would promote a movie that denigrates their product.

If my wife really wanted to see it, I'd go with her. Fortunately she doesn't want to see it.

To answer the OP's question, if someone paid for my ticket, snacks, and a drink, then I'd go see it for $50. Even if it's a terrible movie, $50 for a couple hours would be worth it.

I'm curious, if you have not seen the movie, then why do you think the movie is degenerating their product.

"Far from being a feature-length commercial for Barbie, Gerwig’s movie puts in bright critical light the trouble with Barbie’s pure, blank perfection."

Wow, this dude puts a whole lot of editorial comment for a movie about a doll.
Based on the opening numbers doesn't appear that his version is resonating with the general public.

He gives it a glowing review which does resonate with the general public. I assume. I have not seen the box office numbers, but I assume it did well. He loves the fact that it "deconstructs" Barbie and from I've read, that seems to the be point of the movie. The director, Gerwig, has been quite open about her goal for the movie, which is to paint an unflattering view of Barbie.

I have to be up front, I'm not really that engaged to get into a friendly discussion on this topic. I know so far it's a big success, and will in all likely hood be the Big Summer Blockbuster.

Considering it brought in 180 million one of the highest this year, I would say the opinion is good.

The trailer I saw was totally dumb and stupid and to put a nail in the coffin - Ryan Gosling was trying to sing.
