Was looking good til they showed FSU vs Indiana. All downhill from there. Tough regional. Tough Super matchup.
Could be much worse. Not FSU, but I'll take it.
We can bring fans to Virginia that we couldn't to Oregon/Oregon State. South Alabama we can handle, UCA has to have been put there for added drama - time for revenge.

17 RPI 2 seed (one of the best), 29 RPI 3 seed (one of the best), and 62 RPI 4 seed... one of the best and oh by the way they took 2 of 3 from us in Starkville. It couldn't be much worse. AND add to it UVA is #3 in RPI and took 2/3 at North Carolina one week ago.
One of the 14 other hosts. You're acting like the committee did us a favor. They did not.

I think Mercer beats USA on Friday.

I think our players are pumped to get another shot at them.
Having an awesome atmosphere this weekend will help BIG TIME.

We didn't deserve a favor, but we got a Regional we will probably win. Mark it down, UCA won't upset us again.

The regional doesn't look too tough at all. A USA team that is very overrated by RPI and didn't do anything in its league to separate itself from any of the other decent teams. A UCA team that had a losing record in their league. And Mercer, who I don't know much about, but come on, its Mercer. They can't be THAT good. Really, there's not one team in this regional that should be a strong threat to us.

This is how these things usually go. They put the toughest lower level teams they can in our regional. I mean hell, the other 3 teams all have over 40 wins !! What kinda ******** is that!!??
They did us no favors whatsoever.
Gonna be really disappointing if we don't make it out of our own regional. And unfortunately between our subpar hitting and lack of starting pitching, wouldn't be all that surprising.

Agreed. Obviously it could always be easier, but none of these teams are scary. We'll be playing in the Supers. Let's just hope UNCW can pull it out in Charlottesville somehow.

USC is the only team we can really compare ourselves to because they're the only other SEC non national regional host. We could have easily been the team to host Clemson and face off against UNC in the supers.

I agree with first part, but as soon as USC got a host, they were getting Clemson and UNC and we weren't. If Ark had hosted I would've been worried about those two.
Strange bracket... I would've preferred a major conference team in our regional, just to give it a bit more hype... but we'll provide all the atmosphere needed ourselves.

2nd toughest regional my ***. We drew a weak #2 seed (of course most of the good #2 seeds were SEC teams or far West teams). That alone makes it a good regional draw no matter who the #3 and #4 seeds are. Which, BTW, the #4 seed is weak. Losing record in a crap conference.
Actually pat, every analyst so far has ours listed as one of the top 2 toughest Regionals. I agree that we don't have a great #2, but we have very solid 3 and 4. And you can discount UCA's record, but they still beat us twice and won their conference tourney, so that's not a terrible #4. Oh yea, they were ranked in the top 25 for a while this season too.
Not only that, but I just saw on twitter where a few analysts thought Mercer was a #2 seed....yet they are a 3 in our Regional.
So yes, we avoided a big name #2, but the committee made up for it with no easy outs in our Regional. I personally would rather have it this way though. Since we don't have a shut down Ace starting pitcher...I like not having to face a Clemson type team in a second game matchup against an ACC Ace.
Based on RPI, it is a tough regional. But RPI is a VERY flawed formula. South Alabama finished in a virtual 4-way tie for the Sunbelt regular season title (only 1 game separated the top 4 teams). They're at best in the bottom half of the #2 seeds on the field. Mercer is probably a good #3 seed, but if you're overly worried about the #3 and #4 seeds, you've got problems anyway. You're right that there are no easy outs in this field. But there aren't any really dangerous teams either. I'd a whole lot rather play a tough #3 and #4 seed than a tough #2 any day. South Alabama is 12-15 against top-100 RPI teams. I'll take a regional with them as the #2 any day, no questions asked.

Also, I think it's tough from a 2-4 seed quality standpoint....not from a "we have a really good 2 seed" standpoint. In my opinion, I would rather have our Regional over South Carolina's for sure. I was worried we would have Clemson as a 2, so I like this much better.
The thing that worries me about Central Arky is not that they beat us before, but how they beat us, and many of the teams on their schedule, and that is playing for the hbp. I believe they are among the NCAA leaders in that category, and we have had our problems with hit batters. It is tough to pitch inside on those guys.
