The woman who reported her car stolen in connection with Ole Miss football player Darius "Tig" Barksdale's arrest last week pleaded guilty to false reporting of a crime.
Karnesha Ellis, 20, was convicted of the charge and fined $620 earlier this week, according to the Batesville City Court clerk.
Barksdale, who was The Clarion-Ledger's Mr. Football selection in 2007, was pulled over early in the morning on Aug. 6 after police found him driving a Nissan Altima that Ellis had reported stolen.
Barksdale was then arrested and charged with DUI and driving without a license. A grand larceny charge was dropped after it was found the two were acquaintances, according to police.
The DUI and driving without a license charges are still pending, according to the court clerk.
Barksdale reported to Ole Miss on Tuesday and has been practicing with the team. The 6-foot, 190-pound freshman is expected to compete for playing time this season.
Coach Houston Nutt has said discipline will be handled internally. He has made no mention suspending Barksdale.
