The athletic department at MSU is going to have to seriously do an evaluation and comparison of their spending on coaching staff compared to everybody else in our division (and pretty much in the country - I have heard Alabama pays their coach upwards of 4 million a year - but look what it has bought them).... With $$$ comes great recruiters, and great coaches-- which GREAT players will follow. Since, to my despair, MSU has never really had a football program that has been considered a "dynasty" players won't come on reputation. They are going to have to have some recruiters who can convince them. It is a vicious cycle, but it is the COLD, HARD TRUTH. In addition, if we were to luck up and "Dan the Man" becomes what we are all praying for and brings our team up to the level we are all hoping for, we will still have to "show him the $$$" or we will lose him. We can talk about a lot of things on this board but in the end it comes back to being able to recruit talent all the way around. Unfortunately, the old saying is so true -moneytalks and BS walks.</p>
