Actually, no it wouldn't have. Besides, Chick-fil-a was not the linchpin in the bowl mess, it was Outback (aGAIN).

but I'm honestly kind of glad that we "fell" to the Gator Bowl. I think our chances of beating Michigan are better than FSU. To me, 9-4 sounds a lot better than 8-5. Dan will be able to point to a 4 game improvement in his record with a bowl win over Michigan to recruits. He will have over a month to pump this to this years class to solidify any commits that may be wavering and may be pull in a couple at the end. Additionally, it should really help with next years class.

I'm really happy with this match up because it is a New Years Day bowl against the all time winningest team and the team with the most bowl appearances & wins (I think all of that is true of Michigan). Furthermore, it is a game that we can & should win. FSU would be a game that we could win, but it would be a much tougher match up.

The Outback insisted on Florida leaving SC there with the Chick-Fil-a bowl with the next pick. It is also my understanding that the Gator bowl was going after Tenn. Their reasoning was the fact that the SEC was letting the OutBack bowl pick who they wanted and the Gator said good we will take Tenn. The SEC office step in and said no and broker the deal. How that went down I don't know. Just goes to show who is the favorites of the SEC. Florida is number one.
