So, what are our chances for the Sweep?

He's good, but he's no David Price either. And if we throw Nick Routt, that's not exactly your normal Sunday starter either.

I think we have a pretty good chance of winning tommorrow- we're at home, we're confident, we're hitting the ball well, and I think the team has a lot of confidence in Nick Routt. Since anything can happen in baseball, I'll put it at 65% because I'm feeling wooly. I normally would probably go with 60%, but our confidence made me add another 5%.

their coach talks up "Championship Sunday" and thinks they can go 10-0 pitching their Ace on Sundays....very different approach- worked last weekend...we'll see how it goes tomorrow

Both teams have been able to score runs, and we've been able to do it early, so I give us the advantage. Routt is a very solid guy, and if we can get 5 innings of 2 runs or less out of him, I will be extremely happy.Tomorrow is a chance for us to make a bigstatement. Sweep a ranked team, 4 conference wins in a row, and some tangibleevidence thatCohen has gotten things turned around.

As for throwing your ace on Sundays, I personally think its a smart thing to do against teams like Vandy and Florida. In our current position, I wouldn't mind Cohen throwing Stratton on Sunday against Florida. Might be our only legit chance at a win. But against middle of the road teams, I don't think it matters.

There is nothing stopping Florida, Vandy or South Carolina from holding their ace until Sunday since their number two and three starters are clearly better than Auburn's number two and three starters. Auburn's ace is pretty comparable to the aforementioned schools second and third starters.

Would you rather start a series with a win and hope momentum carries you through the weekend or do you holdthe ace tillsunday and risk dropping the first game or two and hope the sunday win carries you through the next weekend? Not sure I worded that thought in the best way but maybe yall catch my drift

everybody else will go ahead and throw their Ace on either Fri-Sat...probably hopes to split the Fri-Sat's with his other pitching, and then win all the Sunday's with his Ace.

Not saying it is a great philosophy, but it is interesting to say the least. ****, if you 8-2 on Sunday with your Ace, and go 8-12 the rest of the games, you are 16-14 and in pretty damn good shape in the SEC race for Hoover and for a regional appearance.

Worked last week vs UPig, but not this week vs us...

What if it rains on Sunday? Then you've played a weekend series without pitching your ace. In any case, with Routt on the mound for us, I like our chances. There's no pressure on us. We've already won the series, that we weren't "supposed" to win anyway. The pressure is all on them to try to keep from being swept.

I don't like it either- to me, it's almost like you're conceding games- you "may" guarantee yourself 8-10 wins, but you've also guaranteed yourself 8-10 losses. And it's not like it's a secret what they are going to do- these college pitchers only throw once a week- moving them up and down a day or two is not that big of a deal usually.

I figure that if I have an average Friday night guy, I'm going to win about half the time- you never know when a guy like Sonny Gray is going to have an off night or something, or you get the game to extra innings and you pull out a win. I would hate to use my third starter on Friday, and a guy like a Gray have an off night, and lose like 8-6 and think geez, if my ace was out there, we probably would have won.

To me, that's why you've got to recruit pitching so hard and find enough guys that are good that it doesn't matter what day they pitch.
