but damn... At the same time... if you're paying your coach that damn much... he HAS to do better.

from a national exposure standpoint does the move to Texas help or hurt Manny? I'm guessing it got his name out there a good bit more but now he's going to be shopping for a job. Texas is going to be able to hire a big name who will almost assuredly have his own assistants.

screwed up by going to Texas last year. I know that he didn't forget to coach in just one year, but his stock has not risen because of this past season in Austin.

if the UT fanbase is so pompous that they think that they deserve a better coach than Mullen.

They will get someone bigger than Dan Mullen.<div>
</div><div>And by bigger, I mean Nick Saban or Pete Carroll... and the contract will be astronomical.</div>

let's just hope the powers that be at Ole Miss don't tell Dave Wommack to stay in Arkansas and throw big money at Manny.

It's a completely different world here in Texas. You have ultra-conservatives and reefer-growing hippie gripe artists all mixed in. And there probably are more of the latter in Austin.

He's "only" a pretty good DC. He not as good as Ellis Johnson. He's on par with Chris Wilson. He's a good, but not an allstar DC.<div>
</div><div>Being a HC is a lot different than being a coordinator. Manny might be a great HC and he might not. No way to know. But there's nothing out there that suggets he's some dynamite HC-in-the-making.</div><div>
</div><div>Hell I don't even care if he's DC for Ole Miss (except obviously I'd rather they keep Nix or someone equally inept), Auburn, or elsewhere. He'd be just another pretty good SEC DC.</div>

They are going after a big name. What we have to worry about is the down stream effect. Depending on who they pull will that school come after Mullen?

My wild-hair pick will be Mark Richt (and yes, I know that is highly unlikely).

Yes, it is definitely weird here in Austin. Lots of tree huggers... lots of money folks that are ultra conservative.

To keep the peace at my house I had to invoke a no political conversations rule for my friends.

We had a good defense last year. But three of his starters are now in the NFL, two more could be drafted this year, and two more have the potential to make it (Boyd & Whitley).<div>
</div><div>That 2010 defense could potentially have 7 of 11 players on NFL rosters one day. I probably could have looked good as DC of that group.</div>
