but I'll be pissed. He and Melvin would have made a great combo. Besides Hudspeth and the three coaches staying on board (recruiting wise), I'm not pleased with how our coaching staff is turning out.

Edit - Wrong "Coach H."

I like some of them- if we get Hevesy I would be happy. Koenning is the only offensive hire that I don't like. Wilson is a good hire because I think we could really tap into the Louisiana area, which we have kind of neglected over the years. I don't like keeping Stringer as a coach, but would be OK if he is the recruiting coordinator. I don't like having the stench of Felker around either. Turner and Smith are good if we're going to keep anyone from the previous staff. I think Torbush will do OK.

Am I correct in saying that we are going to have to hire another defensive coach for the LB's?

Is the chatter on this rumor picking up or are you going off of last night's thread?

negotiating on another job a week after taking ours but it wouldn't be the first time its happened. The main thing that concerns me is the lure of money because TN is throwing out some MAJOR coin on assistants right now and if they decide they really want him they will pay whatever it takes to get him. Sure hope we keep him though because I think he would really help our program.

Your money argument has merit as it's obvious we can't pay what UT can. However, the thing that doesn't make sense is Wilson supposedly interview with Kiffin, and was offered the job, prior to accepting our position. I can't imagine he has such a desire to coach with O again that it would change his mind. I guess O could have convinced whoever is writing the checks that it's worth whatever it takes to get Wilson to Knoxville.

With all that said, I'd hope the guy would have the courtesy to wait until after Thursday night to discuss this with Mullen.

he was a badass LB in HS, parade AA, had a great career at UNC before playing for the Giants for a while. I saw on rivals last year that he was listed as one of the top 25 recruiters in the country, would be a good get for us other than the fact that he doesnt know the area. He is originally from Arkansas.

I'll take Mullen and a staff of 10 near corpses. It can't be any worse than 5 years of Crooms.

the rumor mill contains this version: Coach O wants Wilson at TN. who knows, and from some perspectives, who cares?
