So what's everyone's swing game for this season...

since Auburn wasn't it for some. What's the game where you think we have a chance to win but if we do win - this could be a special year. I would have to guess it's LSU.

I still think winning at Auburn would be huge for our confidence... and I feel that we could even lose to LSU and it not be the end of the world.

If we go 11-1 (only loss to LSU) or 10-2 (only losses to LSU and BAMA) are those not special seasons for us? Both cases, more than likley, result in a BCS bowl.

As I previously stated, I think that winning at Auburn could give this team a mental confidence boost that makes this year special.

We need that game real bad if we're going to be 9-3 (better than last year).

Need to get that gorilla off of our backs. For some reason, I am really not even worried about the Auburn game, unless they somehow find another $200k for a QB. I fully expect two undefeated teams in Davis Wade Sept. 15. Winner of that one has leg up in West and confidence to run the table. That would also be a huge swing for that imaginary recrootin title as well.

if it's a good topic - no reason not to bring it here. And he can do the same if he wants.

I'm not sold that this year will be some magical season; it's just simply the state fan in me.We should beat Memphis with no problem, but the next two games( Auburn and LSU) could be horrible, especially Auburn since so many people have that game as a sure 'W'.

If we go into the La Tech game at 1-2, that will be the most important game of the season, kinda like the same way Georgia was last year.

I won't know what to think if we lose to Auburn and beat LSU. But if we beat Auburn and lose to LSU, I feel like I'll know about where we stand.

I can't believe that I am expecting to beat Auburn, the previous season's NC who we will be playing on the road, but I am, specifically because they lost so much and we are catching them early before their young talent has adjusted. But being able to start out 3-0 and staring at a cupcake would makefor a beautiful beginning to what could be a special year. Having said that, I never think that we ARE going to beat LSU and we never do either.Butat this time of year . . . a guy can dream can't he.

LSU.Mainly, because itis early in the year and at home. You could probably interchange LSU and South Carolina, because I think USC is the team to beat in the East. We could loseto LSU and still be in it at the end, but if we take care of business at AU,that gameon ESPN Thursday night against a Top 5 team(assuming they beat Oregon) could be a big catalyst.

Winning all 3 of the SEC East games is imperative if we have a shot at winning the SEC West. I don't see an undefeated team this year from the West. Arky/Bama/Lsu are strong but they could cancel themselves out so to speak.

sorry ..i just dont understand the logic. I will continue to mark LSU and Arkansas as annual losses until someone can prove me otherwise

3 games will define our season: at Auburn, at Georgia , and S Carolina ... Win 2 out of those3 , the 4 OOC games, and Kentucky and Ole Miss and your 8-4 again . I will consider that special as a Mississippi State football fan

We do that and we'll have another good season. Auburn is going to be fielding a young team w/o Robocopand UGAis down to 1 running back and will lose God only knows who else to discipline problems shortly. LSU will be loaded again although they won't have Patrick Peterson. If we sustain any injuries on the D-line we're in trouble.

And then win the rest that we are supposed to and lose the rest, what does that give us? 7-8 wins? Same as last year? Would that make this year a special year? No, because we did it last year. It is a good year, but in order to be considered special, wouldn't we need to eclipse last year?

We need one or both of them to be set for November, a really tough month. We will need to win both of those to have a special season.

I think a "special"season means better record than we had last year(especially in-conference),and as i said already, being in strong contention the last few weeks for the West crown, BCS bowl game. If by special you mean the same as last year(which i think was a very good season), then no, LSU is not a swing game. (Cue SNL's "Lowered Expectations" skit music in background)

I think beating them on the road would be huge for our confidence. We start of 2-0 and we are still going into UGA at 3-1 if we lose to LSU.

Keys for this game being the special game of the season:
1. LSU needs to be undefeated(this will give the game BIG national exposure, because they will have already beaten the runner up to last year NC)
2. The DAWGS need to be undefeated(if so means we have beaten last years NC, even if they did loose a ton of talent)
3. HOME GAME on Thursday night ESPN.

We come out of this game undefeated, and this game has the potential to vault us into the National Spotlight.

we absolutely must beat Auburn. If we do, then LSU becomes an extra candle on a good year's cake.

I rank desires to win ( a win would make me happy) as

Auburn (most likely in my mind)
Arky (we need to get to the point where we can beat this team - a Little Rock win wouldbe nice)
LSU (beating them after beating Auburn would make us #8 in nation)
Bama (Jesus might return if this happens)
Then everyone else, except Mole Miss, which is a slam dunk, with my only desire being to see us hang 60+ points on them

There is no single swing game. What will define our season is our record after our first 3 games. We have to be 2-1 at the worst to have a special season. I just cannot pencil in a win against Auburn because when I think of a chess match between Malzahn and Chris Wilson I don't get a warm fuzzy feeling.
