So when do we cut Sidney loose?

If he doesn't see the possibility of playing by the end of December, then I think he won't be back in January.

That's just my guess.

Unless the rules have changed he can't get it back. As of a few years ago, schools submitted a list of scholarship athletes to the NCAA prior to the school year beginning and that list was locked in until the next year regardless of what happened otherwise.

I'm getting just as sick of this as the next guy, but the fact remains that Sidney is the difference between MSU being a good Top 20 team and MSU being a possible Final 4 run type team. This whole situation has been ridiculous, but I don't give up until the NCAA has officially declared him ineligible.

Also, at this point, I wonder how much Jackson is holding back simply due to pride. At least, that's what I'm hoping. It's obvious that the NCAA is waiting on the complete bank records and I know that Jackson has said that they won't get them, but it's getting down to the end of the line here. They've made it apparent that he won't be cleared without them, and I'm just hoping that Jackson hasn't handed them over yet because his pride is getting in the way. I may be missing something entirely, but if he's already showed them the deposit records, I'm not sure what else there would be to hide on the bank statements.

Edited to say that it just occurred to me that even though the deposit records didn't show any income that was out of the ordinary, I guess the bank records could prove that they had a lot of possessions that weren't paid for by Sidneys.

I agree, I don't think this is over yet. The NCAA has decided that this is their pissing contest of the year and I imagine the fight will go on. What interests me is that they did not say the records were incomplete when they were examining them, but decided they were after the fact. It will be interesting to see what the media take is on this latest development.

..officially ends.

This thread reminds me of how everybody begins to get pissed off about MSU's 3-8 football record. In August.

I realize a sports messageboard is a key place to get pissed off about future scenarios that might or might not happen, but this "cut him loose" talk is ridiculous.

of him ever being cleared. Like someone else said, I expect he'll leave in December anyway if he's not cleared.

Jarvis can't get his scholly back until the spring. They do it by semester. One of the players on the women's team quit during the fall a few years ago, and they couldn't give her scholarship to a walk-on until the start of the spring semester. As far as should we keep Sidney or not, I say keep him until the NCAA makes a final decision and as long as he contributes to the team in practice. If he commits to practicing and making himself and the team better, then we have the best scout team player in the country. I also wouldn't blame him for leaving on his own if he isn't cleared by the end of the semester.
