So where do you think Bill Simmons ends up post-WWL?

Needs his own platform. Grantland could be its own website, and really should be.

Something like a Vice Sports. I'm not his biggest fan, but he has a place. Calls it like it is and doesn't apologize for it. An informed Kanell.

Yeah, well, for my money 17 Bill Simmons. One of the most unlikeable espn personalities out there.

I'll listen to Mike & Mike yuk it up for 4 hours rather than 5 minutes of his BS boston hagiography any ol' day.

He was actually hilarious before he got popular...

when he was just the "Boston Sports Guy"... after he blew up and got famous, it's been all downhill

Reading his espn blog used to be a must for me every day. The way he would weave pop culture in with sports was incredibly entertaining. When he came back from writing for Jimmy Kimmell it wasn't the same. Now for the last couple of years he's just been an ***.

His ESPN "Page 2" columns were usually really good. And I think "30 for 30" was

his baby.

But nowadays he comes off as a major prick.

He's a fantastic writer, but his head's too big now.

While he's one of my favorite people at ESPN, his problem is that he now thinks he's above ESPN and can do whatever the hell he wants. The problem is, he can't.

The more I thought about it the more I realized he'll probably end up staying with ESPN. Not because he likes everything about it, but so much of his success is tied in with less-visible people who are friends and long-time work partners whose careers are much more tied to Disney/ESPN. If he went out on his own a lot of those people would probably not be able to follow him because they would be giving up too good of a thing for themselves.

Maybe he was, I don't know. But now he's just a very bitter man. Not funny and not insightful. For the record, Golic is right on this. 4 games in is WAY too early to start comparing Lebron to Pujols with the Angels. As I recall, the Heat didn't exactly start out all that hot when he went there. And that worked out OK for them.
