So which team from MS finishes better in the SEC?

We're both 1-2 now. We play Florida. That's all the Mississippi Rebels have going for them in this question.

MSU has Bama, Fla, UM at home and ARK, KY on the road. UM has AR, TN, LSU at home and AU and MSU on the road. MSU will not be favored in a single SEC game left on the schedule. UM will be favored in the AR, TN and MSU games. I rate LSU, AU as toss ups.

they still have better players overall. I'm not saying we can't beat them. Their D will keep them in every game and their O will look better in some games.

There is no question they still have more talent than us. I think they would have taken 1 out of the last 3 games we lost.

But don't forget, Mississippi has to win 7 to go bowling, and it's not going to be easy for them to get there. The Arkansas, Tennessee, and Auburn games aren't necessarily the W's that Reb fans chalked up over the summer.

Pretty sure at the beginning of the year they weren't concerned about that 2nd I-AA game biting them in the ***.

If they continue to play like they are now there are some very questionable games in there. Any team that beats Arkansas is just going to have to outscore them. UT is no longer a given.

right now, we are the 5th and 6th best teams in the West.

You can easily make the point that LSU, Arkansas and Auburn are better than Ole Miss.

....and two out of the following four: LSU, Auburn, Arkansas, UT.. They'll be 7-5 (3-5). We'll be 5-7 (3-5).

which looks like it's fairly certain, I hope they go 6-6 and can't go bowling because they won't be bowl eligible with 2 1-AA wins.

Why are people still thinking OM should automatically be favored over teams like Auburn, Arkansas, LSU, or even Tennessee??? Bama was SUPER conservative today on offense and could've won by 30.
OM would have the exact same record as MSU w/ our schedule, and I say MSU beats them. Spread offenses will move the ball more effectively against their defense, b/c they haven't really faced a diverse top notch offense yet.

I think their defense is legitimately one of the top in the country. And that will win them some games. Their offense will not be that bad all year.

There D is good when you try to run right at which is what Bama tried to do. OM's problems will be when they go up against team that will spread the ball around and not try to run it right at them. The DL is very good, but thier back 7 is really bad. For as much pub as Trahan got, he is not very physical and appears to always be a step slow, much like Chaney for us.

Almost sure wins with UAB, Northern Aridzona and MSU. Pull one aGAINst Arkansas, Tennessee, LSU or Auburn. Should be pretty easy, but not where Mississippi wanted to end up this year.

That's some strong wishful thinking on your part which I can understand. I do the same with your team so we are both big fans. Nothing wrong with that.

However, our entire defense is pretty stellar. The DL is remarkable and the back 7 are pretty good to great. We have already played teams that spread the ball around and we shut them down. The offense has given us 2 losses this year. This season for us will completely hinge on how quickly our offense gells. With that being said, the earlier poster (MSU fan) had it right when he said that our offense will not be playing bad all year and will vastly improve. If I were you, I would hope that it takes a few more games for the offense to come together. That will insure us losing a few more times. However, we play you at the end of the year. Don't look for it to take that long.

A strong DL like Ole Miss has will shut down a spread team. That's how we beat Texas Tech last year. We throw off timing and that equates to a beating. Unless of course the offense isn't there.

It's week 6. Your offense is what it is. And your offense is terrible.

Your defense is good, no doubt. But what two spread teams have you shut down? Vanderbilt? SeLa?

I'd hesitate before picking State to beat Ole Miss, but everybody still picking Ole Miss to win on the basis of their offseason hype needs to watch a football game.

But I think you'll have a tough time against OM because of inconsistency at QB (ironic statement after OM's game yesterday, I know). I don't think it'll be a repeat of last year with all the sacks because Mullen will scheme better than Croom, and because y'all are just a better team under Mullen. But I think it ends up to be around at 10 point win. Hell if I know though. Snead could throw 9 pick 6's at this rate.

We know about playing strong defense and having an inept offense. Stop talking up your team. Trust us, its not worth it.

Sincerely,

I was thinking lose by 20+, now I think it's a possible win. Y'all are just not very good on offense and the confidence is shot.

You're 8th in passing offense in the sec, 8th in rushing offense. And that's with games against memphis and SeLa sprinkled in.

In three games against SEC competition, you've scored four TDs. Your offensive line is average at best and your WRs - other than mccluster, who for some reason hasn't gone off yet - scare no one.

Not to mention a QB who apparently has forgotten how to play football.

Nah, your offense is fine. Everything's ok.

(about the pace he was on the last 6 games of last year), then the offense would still absolutely suck ***. I understand you're trying to flame, but I'm trying to be realistic.

I'm saying that almost halfway through the season, your offense has been terrible. I don't see the wiggle room in that statement.

And against 2 teams it's been really bad. And in those 2 games Snead is a combined 18-45 for 247 yards, with 1 TD and 4 picks. See the Vandy game -- great first half by Snead, and we lead 17-0. Horrid second half by Snead, and we score 6 points and can't move the ball. I'll just leave it at that. I understand your point.
