So which was the more gut-wrenching home loss this year...

LSU in football or Kentucky in basketball? Close call but I will give a slight nod to last night since we had the lead and didn't hold it whereas against LSU we were about 4 inches from taking the lead but never actually got it. Also the refs in the LSU game weren't the factor they were last night.

I was dispondent for 3 days after that game. We had no business even hanging with LSU based on talent and to come four inches away from possibly beating them for the first time in 10 years was heartbreaking. Heck, we had beaten UK the past three years. Plus the LSU loss kept us out of a bowl game. If we miss the NCAA tourney because of last night's loss, I might reconsider however.

I take football losses much harder than basketball losses, especially when teh opportunity to beat LSU is so rare. We beat Kentucky in hoops all the time(recently).

I expect the TTM to make poor decisions and not get us the 4 inches we need to win. I also expect to get *** raped by refs when playing UK in basketball, but for some reason, that's much harder to take.

The LSU game, the players did what it took to win, but ultimately we were weak when it mattered. For UK, the players did enough to beat UK, but not enough to overcome ****** officiating. Much easier to swallow when you don't take care of the things within your control.

so it was i no way gut wrenching for me. I was more like "wow, we almost won that game." I hate to say it but it was a moral victory (i hate saying that as much as you hate reading it)

Basketball is such a fickle game that I knew we had a shot at beating kentucky. And being up 7 with 3 minutes to go (or thereabouts), and losing that lead in 19.83 seconds was brutal. At that point it was obviously our game to lose.... and we did just that in marvelous fashion. To damn near having the game won, to losing was brutally gut wrenching.
