I have a lot of dejected long time iPhone users in the office today asking me about my Samsung Galaxy sIII.

Well, they are making all my accessories basically useless, or requiring some $20 adapter, so my old iPhone 4 might just stay that way. If I have to change plugs, I might as well change phones. How you liking the S3 ?

Negative. I got the 4s and am happy with it and my 3g accessories. Pisses me off that it wont work on 4g lte network though. I thought it would when I got it.

What is the major complaint with the iphone5? I was thinking of getting one to upgrade from my 4s, however I have some work apps that are only available on apple so switching to Samsung or another manufacturer is not an option.

I have the Galaxy Note and it is awesome. Can't wait for the Note II ,

No... The Galaxy Note is too big. The sIII is perfectly comfortable.

which is even bigger (5.5in) vs the current Galaxy Note (5.3in).

I use my Note more for internet and Kindle ebooks than as a handheld phone, and the extra screen size makes it so much better for my use.

Here's a comparison pic of the Galaxy Note II vs the iPhone 5:

I ordered one. The main reason is I'm used to the iPhone. Plus, I keep mine in really good shape so I can resell it on ebay for the price of the new model with upgrade. I'm hoping I am able to buy all the new accessories on ebay in the next few weeks. Never EVER buy them from a store. I pay $2.85(includes shipping) for the cable, wall charger and car charger. I've only had to replace them once. The new ones might be a little more expensive but I will not be buying the apple versions.

I bit on the Samsung Galaxy sIII because I wanted to try something different than the iPhone. The thing is gigantic and seems cheaply made. If you are carrying it in your pocket you have no room for anything else. When I went somewhere, lets say out to eat, I had to take it out of my pocket and lay it on the table. It feels like you are trying to carry around the old Zack Morris phone.

Needless to say, I was happy when I changed jobs and had to go back to the iPhone. The multimedia is better on the Galaxy sIII, but unless you are using it as your TV and Computer it isn't worth dealing with IMO.

Yeah, until you hit 5 GB in a month and they put a speed cap on you. I know it may seem crazy that using that amount of data could ever happen, but you start streaming netflix with LTE service, and it can actually happen pretty quickly.

I can't believe that someone hasn't sued them for the whole speed cap thing.

Long...

Preordered the S3 thru CSpire website. Don't know if I will pull the trigger on the S3 or the Iphone5. Wife and I both are up, or close enough, to wear resigning isn't a deal breaker. Read the Gizmodo link someone else posted below to find out what to avoid when ordering new said devices. One thing for sure I will do, is wait a few days for the I5 to drop, watch reviews on youtube and then make my decision. I don't care what feels the best, they are all around an 1" or so of each other and both would be in an otterbox. What matters to me is #1-battery, #2- how easy & quickly it is to save and retrieve information.

The s3 gives you altering launchers (homescreen layouts) and quad processor which should alleviate all the bugging those who got the original Galaxy experienced. I5 has new A6 chip which is supposed to speed things up & be more efficient with battery use. Like I said, youtube the **** out of it early October and then decide. The Galaxy sucked, others I know will back me, but the I5 wasn't the hit I think everyone thought it would be, which has made the S3 tempting.

I am still bummed about the CSpire Smartphone Unlimited plan. I guess I should have seen it coming, but I was told multiple times that I would be able to be grandfathered in when I changed plans. Starting September 10, 2012, all 2-year agreements that are used to get the subsidized price on a new phone will require that you ditch the smartphone unlimited plan and choose one of the newer Choice Data + plans. You can stay on your smartphone unlimited plan if you pay full retail for your phone, which in the case of the iPhone 5 is $649 and I assume that the s3 is about the same.

Their logic is that since the potential for data use is higher that people will use more data so they will charge more money. I realize that bandwidth isn't free, but it seems like things are moving in the wrong direction with respect to price.

My thoughts on the iPhone 5 itself is that if I had a 4s it would be meh ... but since I have an original Galaxy S (which was good for a month or so) it looks pretty good, since I have been telling myself that I could never go down in screen size. Now, I have the iphone as an option without losing screen size.

I have three folks in my office that run the S3 (two on Sprint and one on AT&T) and they all love it to death. Add in the microSD expandability, replaceable and better after-market batteries, incredible multi-core processor and available memory, and the ROM and kernel support community on the XDA forums, there's no comparison to it and any product from Crapple. I've played with it, and I'm impressed.

Of course, I have long since come to the conclusion that if you are into versatility and don't mind learning how to modify and improve your device, a Samsung/HTC/LG Android phone is by far your best bet. If you have little-to-no technical savvy and prefer to use what any soccer mom slugs around in a pink Otterbox to text and update Facebook with, then an IP5 is probably the way to go.
