I think it's two reasons.
1. It might not reflect what his wealth is claimed to be.
2. It'll likely show him using the tax code to his advantage which people will rail against.
Slim chance yet realistic that it might show shady dealings with companies and foreign entities. At most, it'd give detractors an opportunity to attack and create even more circumstantial ties.
Releasing them would amount to an audit by the public. I know very few business owners who are 100% legit in their taxes. Lots of gray area to play in with the current tax system that doesnt need to be debated in the public, especially someone with that much wealth and that many business ventures.
I think it's #1 by a mile, but no doubt concealing his debts as well. How does this not irritate "conservatives"? Trump or no Trump, I sure as **** hope we change the disclosure process going forward.
So you don't want to see them because he may not have been 100% legit when he filed them, seems like reason to keep em secret, but then why did he tell us all that he would release them after the election? Was that just a lie to get through the election?
My guess is that with his real estate losses, his taxes are quite low (reason for the audit). Further, with the media being almost totally against him, his tax returns would be used as fodder for weeks if not months and serve as a huge distraction. If I were him, I would never release them. Even if he played by the rules and did everything right, the media would make him look guilty as hell.

Not required by law. Obama's would have showed that all he ever did was suck on the govt teet. If he wants to show them, fine, if not, fine. Same with anybody else. it's just a way for the left to have something else to hit you over the head with because those of us on the right beleive that you should have accomplished something in life other than rip off the people and take their tax dollars to support your way of life.
I think it's more #1 than anything ... he lies about the number of floors in his buildings for crying out loud ... so there's no reason anybody should suspect he's honest about his wealth.
I said it before that if he ever does release them, everybody needs to be careful about jumping to conclusions ... there are most likely going to be financial ties to Russia and any number of other countries ... but he does business internationally, so it wouldn't necessarily mean anything to see it on his taxes.
I also think his taxes will show that he doesn't give as much to charity as he says, that he doesn't pay the amount of taxes he says, and any number of other grandiose claims he makes.
It might also uncover myriad shell corporations setup to avoid the tax laws as well.
Interesting stance to take with a guy that ran a fraudulent "university" ... and also played shell games with his businesses and bankruptcies.
There are more ways to take tax dollars to support your way of life than a direct government job or welfare.
He said he would release them after the election, so I guess he lied. Obama and Clinton released theirs so we already know what they show. And left or right, if you did something wrong they are gonna hit you over the head with it. So hide away Donnie, your supporters don't care and are afraid the information you are protecting will make you look bad , that it?
He never said any such thing......he said AFTER the audit was completed. And......if there are any errors.....I'm sure the audit will catch them.
Romney got raked over the coals for $1.45 that went in the wrong column. You gotta think there's all kinds of shadey stuff in Trumps returns, but not illegal. He pays too many lawyers and accountants to have anything illegal in his returns. He should release them IMO to give the media something to wear themselves out on, all seven years if makes them feel better. The electorate should be pissed off about their own taxes and demand the reforms move forward, but with freedom comes a variety of the most stupid group think tanks imaginable. So many people are easily stirred. sigh
His taxes would expose who benefits the most by his projected tax reform... him. I'm guessing the worshipers could care less. They actually think people like Trump are going to redistribute their tax welfare... to them. Most of these freaks are so ate up with Obama and Hillary they are lost to reality anyway. I agree, so much of his wealth is by trading on his name which he has tried very hard to make synonymous with wealth. As long as he doesn't release them, he can continue to lie about how much he is worth.
Sure, I'd love to see them. But, I sure as **** wouldn't want mine out there either for public scrutiny. For instance, my charitable contributions are no one's business. I can understand people wanting to see them. I can also understand a billionaire who wouldn't want what he does be for public consumption. And yes, it was absolutely a lie to get through the election.
They already did that without them in the debates. He uses the tax system to his advantage. I do as well. If you take the standard deductions every time when you do your turbo tax, you'd likely think he was a crook. I paid out after deductions 6 figures this past year. You better believe that I wrote off every possible thing under the sun that I could. I intentionally run things a certain way just for the write offs. It's my goddamn money that I earned. I'll do my best to keep every possible nickel I can.
You aren't entitled to them and neither am I entitled to Hiliary's. He said he might after the audit is over. "Might" . I don't really care that much. I business man has had private tax professionals doing them for decades. Just like those that were released, ************** couldn't find anything except he paid more in taxes than we thought he did. I have to have my taxes done professionally and I don't think that I would release them either. My tax professionals won't let me do a damn thing that's illegal.

No. Really, if Trump came out and said: "I'm not releasing my returns because I'm private and I don't think most would understand them anyway." Afraid? Doubt that has anything to do with his not releasing the returns. He said over and over during the campaign that there was an ongoing audit. Anyone with even minimal knowledge of legal affairs, let alone those involving complexities such as would relate to Trump companies, would never release financial documents until all aspects have been settled. It is a logical action. The right and media raise it either through ignorance,stupidity, or just as something else to try and make the uninformed develop negative feelings toward the President.
