from ESPN's Andy Katz: Source: NCAA, Renardo Sidney's attorney; Sidney's parents and Mississippi State reps are meeting in Montgomery, Ala., Thursday and Friday.

One way or another, I'm ready to know and be done.

Is Thursday and Friday today and tomorrow or next week?</p>

Just give us a final answer.

I've been looking at our basketball roster and we have a squad with or without Sidney. But, ... with him ... my goodness. The potential is astounding.

The NCAA needs to go ahead and do what they are going to do. There's no need to keep this hanging over our heads.

they would be wasting their time by having meetings if their mind was made up about ruling him ineligible. The fact that they are having meetings (one would think) is a good thing.

I also have no problem with this being dragged out if that means Sidney sees the court.

I agree. I have a hard time understanding why it was decided on this board a long time ago that he would never play for us. I think he'll play after Christmas.

When was the last time we got anything favorable from the NCAA?

The NCAA says he is not certified and won't be until the family produces bank records. The family obviously doesn't want to produce bank records, and so they must be hiding something. It's pretty black and white.

No, the family doesn't want to produce the bank records. Yes, they probably are hiding something. The family will produce the bank records when the NCAA doesn't cave and the family has no other choice but to produce them. There will be a suspension for what's found in the bank records, and then he will play. Who is the last incoming freshman to be suspended for an entire season over benefits received from a school that he is not attending?

that Im sure the Sidney's don't give a damn if Renardo ever plays at MSU or anywhere this next year.

Im sure they are fine with just waiting for Stern to call his name in June 2010.

This is so confusing i left back at the racist statements.

Question:
Is it normal for the NCAA to ask for bank records for incoming athletes?

Thanks

they didn't have the money to pay for this house in LA, so if they didn't have the money then they certainly won't have it now to simply pay back.

But what is the benefit to them holding on to the bank statements for the entire season and ensuring his ineligibility? It's not like the NCAA is a government run organization that is going to get them into tax or legal trouble. Why wouldn't they produce the records and give him a chance?

Not being ready for the NBA hasn't exactly deterred a lot of GMs over the years. All Sidney needs is a few good workouts and he'll have a three year guaranteed deal with the Bobcats. ****, the T-Wolves drafted Yi Jian Lian and he had a workout video circulating of him posting up chairs. Yes, chairs.

but its evident they don't want to give them up. I don't have a clue what their reason is.

Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner.

Furthermore, if he has the same attitude, MSU might be better off without him.

Exactly. By playing in real games, he runs the risk of getting exposed.

For example, take my boy Scottie Hopson. If the NBA had not changed the rules on him, he would have declared - and been drafted - out of high school. That was still the plan up until about mid-season last year, until it became apparent even to team Hopson that he wasn't quite ready for prime time.

In other words, under the old rules, Scottie's dressed out for some NBA team tonight in the second year of a three year contract.

If Sydney is ruled ineligible, he will simply sign with an agent who will bankroll his development until next summer's draft.

The fact that Reggie Bush was accused of virtually the same thing and USC will never, never, ever face a sanction or any kind of penalty shows how bias the NCAA is. Did the Sidney's help themselves by packing up and leaving rural Mississippi for Hollywood? Hell no. But Reggie and his mom did virtually the same thing, only it conveniently didn't come out in the public till he was long gone from USC.

....but I think the rule is that they can't borrow money using Sydney's talent as collateral. If they did that, then he is not considered an amateur, and I'm sure that's exactly what they did.

The bank statements will show deposits, and the NCAA will ask where those deposits came from. There's the rub. If they say, "we borrowed it," then the NCAA will ask what the collateral was and ask to see documentation. If they could prove that the money was legit, then they would've already. I also agree that there is no way that the NCAA can

I do assume they are meeting hoping for some kind of compromise. At this point, it's a matter of the NCAA being merciful, which doesn't usually happen when it comes to Mississippi State.

1. Lakewood Artesia High School
2. Fairfax High School
3. USC
4. UCLA
5. Vaccaro shoe people (the company at the time with Reebok)
6. The owners of a number of houses they "rented"
7. Pat Barrett with Southern California All-Stars
8. Richard Macias with LA Dream Team Foundation

and yes i know all of this came from an old article in May but these are most of the people who have been involved with Sidney during the last couple of years. any one or multiple of them could have given, still gives, or has promised money to keep him quiet about any and all actions while in California.
