Moorhead has coached in 13 SEC games so far. We have only scored two first quarter offensive touchdowns in those 13 SEC games... Two.

One against A&M last year and one against Ole Miss last year. I think A&M last year was the only game Joe has ever put the ball in the endzone on his opening drive in an SEC game. So what the 17 are we doing during the week to prepare?

2018 featured 6 three and outs in 22 1q possessions. 73% of drives had a first down.

22 1Q possessions resulted in: 6 three&outs, 3 INT, 2 TD, 4 FG, 30 First Downs, 26 points.
1.2 pts/possession
3.25 pts average in 1Q

Clearly, the first quarter isn't about TDs. It's about wearing down the defense. Which you do for the first 3.5 quarters then score TDs in garbage time. That's how the system works.**

So during Mullen's final season, we scored on one third of our opening drives. We also had 5 three and outs and 2 picks, so generally we came out strong or sucked balls.

Like I’ve said before, I was a big JoMo supporter but it’s clear that he doesn’t know what to do between Sunday and Friday to prepare a team to play on Saturday. It doesn’t even matter who we are playing. We always look exactly the same.

I’ve been thinking about this the last couple weeks. The first drive is usually scripted, that’s why Dan’s offense on the first drive usually did pretty well, it was just after the first drive that the lack of adjustments left some to be desired.

I don’t think Joe has a scripted first drive. Our offense is based on how the defense is lined up and what they show. So we don’t really have any real identity until we see what the defense is willing to give on any given play. The **** is hard to watch
