David Beckham is soccer's version of Bret Favre.<div>
</div><div>I buy. Over-hyped, prima-donna, but I can't get enough of it for some reason. Without Beckham, I would not be nearly as interested about tomorrow's game.</div>

Over-hyped? I wouldn't say that either of these guys are overhyped. Maybe prima donnas but they both deserve the attention they receive because they are both worthy of the hype. Becks is one of the most known world-wide soccer players in the world, he was the captain of the English team, and he's a pretty dang good soccer player. Favre is arguably the greatest QB in NFL history. Emphasis on arguably, because alot of people have different criteria in that category. He has put up "decent" numbers though.

I think they are both over-hyped because both have so much drama off the field. Favre will hijack all NFL talk until August, and Beckham hijacks just about any talk of soccer. There is no dispute that they are world-class athletes, but nobody deserves the kind of hype that they get.

Prima donna or not, Favre can play. Beckham I cannot speak about, as I only remember his first season with the Galaxy, which for that year I would have labeled as overhyped.
