Nice save by Womack. Looking like crap in 2nd half. And now Ally Perry is down.

Our back line plays with the ball too much. We just pat it back and forth right in front of the goal instead of clearing it out and it drives me crazy.

Taylor with a nice run and we’re up 3-0!

She timed that run perfectly and stayed onside and she got a great ball from Perry.

Man, if Main can start getting quality touches at the end of these runs, this team will be hard to stop.

Having somebody with an English or European accent in the broadcast booth of a soccer match automatically gives that match an extra boost of credibility.
I listened intently to his commentary, he obviously knows his ****.

More coaches need to hear what Frank Lampard said about playing out of the back. He was interviewing with a league one team (3rd division). They asked if he’d have the team play out of the back. He said no. This is a league one team. You don’t have the players to play out of the back.

We will literally have the ball inside the other team’s box and then kick it all the way back to Womack to completely reset. Then she doesn’t send it downfield, she taps it over to one of the defenders and that defender taps it over to another defender and that defender taps it back to Womack.

Hard to complain since we’re winning, but some team with some speed is going to take advantage of it and press until we turn it over inside our box. Auburn figured out how to do that and Missouri tried to, they just don’t have the players.

Yeah. When you’ve got 4 new backs & 1 in her first year playing the position and a GK who can be great at times but is prone to mistakes, you don’t need to be playing out of the back. I’m a big fan of playing as much of the game as possible in the opponents side of the field & winning possession there.

Our backs will cost us this season, but as the Brit said, they need to clean that up.

I saw a study last year someone did on Youtube looking at this with the Premier league. the Premier league. It determined it didn’t really improve goal scoring but did increase goals given up.

I hate it.

The Frank Lampard who has sucked everywhere he's been and justifies kicking the hell out of players just because they're better than you? The Frank Lampard who thinks having 17 screws in your hips is some kind of badge of honor and should just be a natural consequence of a soccer career? Yeah, hard pass on anything he has to say.

As to the substance your post, yeah, lots of teams maybe should be playing longer. But that's not the style of play being taught now. Most of these players come through learning to play out from the back. We just have to stop doing the horseshoe of death in our own third. Although part of playing out from the back is trying to draw defenders onto you so you can play around them. Play the ball forward and keep possession in their final third. Otherwise, we actually are better off playing on the counter.

If you have the players for it, it works great. Few teams have the players for it. even Pep is getting away from it some this year because he just doesn’t have the players he used to have.

I don’t like him either. But he’s right on this. As for his managerial record he’s been at some clubs in disarray. He did ok his 1st stint at Chelsea & Everton has been a train wreck for a decade. But yeah, everybody wants to play out of the back these days. It’s not just us. And honestly, as much as we scare me with it, we really haven’t been hurt too much by it. And i do think we’ll get better throughout the season. This is a new back line with a FR, a transfer forward, a backup CB & a backup midfielder from last year & a GK who was in the Sunbelt. It’s a bit like an offensive line. It takes time to learn to work together as a group.
