I've spent about as much time watching the Arsenal transfer news this summer as I usually spend on MSU recruiting. In other words, TOO much time. Santos will fill a big hole because Traore showed Sunday he wasn't the guy (and Gibbs is still young and injured often). I also saw where they were signing a striker, Park Chu Young from S. Korea. Hopefully, they can snag Cahill and another midfielder or two by tomorrow because their attack has been utterly toothless - and their back line even worse.

I'm just hoping these moves keep the Gunners out of the relegation zone...

Following the 8-2 shellacking, Wenger had three days to save the club and his job and it looks like he's about halfway there. The squad as-is will land mid-table, but if these additions all come through there is a chance of fighting off Liverpool and Tottenham for the 4th Champion's League spot. Even with the rumored additions though, I can't see Arsenal competing for the title this year. We needed two or three big additions even if we kept Cesc and Nasri, but now we're just trying to plug the holes and get back near where we were last year. The most optimistic outcome will still be a struggle for 4th. <div>
</div><div>Chu Young Park is official, and Andre Santos looks like it will be soon. Right now it appears that Per Mertesacker will be the new CB, rather than Cahill, Alex, or Jagielka. Those are all decent signings targeting problem areas. No big banner signing yet, ie Hazard, M'Vila, Gotze, and it may be too much to hope for one of those players to sign on such short notice. They are too important to their current clubs and at this late hour they won't have time to replace them. Just like Arsenal haven't been able to replace Fabregas or Nasri. </div><div>
</div><div>Close on these players and a couple of midfielders.</div>

He'sprobably my favorite Chelsea player.Hate to lose him when he can play up front and in midfield. Alex is replaced by David Luiz, I suppose. I can see that.Hate to lose Malouda, though.
