That's a real good win. I think Germany is #2 in the world (with the USA #1).

Was the call on Bornstein as ******** as the ussoccer.com play by play made it sound? You hate to see a PK called on a questionable call.

He grabbed his arm in the box. The Dutch player embelished it a little but he had backup and never should have tried to grab the player going by.

I sincerely hope that Jonathon Bornstein doesn't see another minute on the field until at least after the World Cup is over. I'm just tracking the match on the gametracker, but it seems pretty obvious that he is just killing us.

Yeah, he's terrible. I'm pretty sure I could find someone in my rec league that has his (lack of) size, quickness, athleticism, and touch.

his stupid foul lead to the PK, then him jumping and turning his back and causing a deflection caused the 2nd goal. This match is pretty painful to watch. Thankfully this isn't the World Cup.

What a rip by Jozy at the end. And Goodson almost scored on a flying dutchman....against the dutchmen. The end of that game is what I wish we looked like all the time.

2-1 loss for the USA with both goals given up by Jonathon Bornstein. Get his *** out of there. To put a positive spin on things, this was a road match at the #3 ranked team in the world, and it was "only" a 1-goal loss and the stats were pretty even. Without watching the game, that doesn't sound like too bad of a performance. How bout you guys that did see it? What do you think?</p>

"The end of that game is what I wish we looked like all the time."

Hesaid it was an excellent end to the game, but he couldn't call it a good performance overall b/c in the World Cup they would have gotten toasted if they came out flat like they did today, which is absolutely true. Beasley did play well today.

We had no creativity in midfield, we'll keep struggling to score goals in open play as long as that continues. Each time we started to settle in and start dictating the game Bornstein did something stupid. Looked good at the end but this was basically tryouts for bench players/practice for first teamers so in a game that matters you'd assume the dutch would sit on the lead more. I'd say it was a decent showing, but not good.

A decent showing. We were never going into this game with a win on our minds, but more about seeing who makes the bench on the WC squad.
Bornstien had some stupid mistakes, followed by an unlucky deflection on the goal.
DeMerit, I think the player of the game. He should be more than in on the squad.
Altidore solid, held the ball up and made some good moves.
Holden we need to pray is going to be alright. He will been needed if we put Dempsey up front with Altidore.
Beasley looks like he is getting back in form.
Findley really didn't do much.
EJ needs to never play for the US agian.

As of right now what do you guys think is in the 23 roster?

Howard, Guzan, Hanhman
cb- DeMerit, Onyewu, Marshall, Boca
rb- Hejduk, Spector
lb- Cherundolo, Pearce
mf- Edu, Bradley, Clark, Klejskan, Beasley, Holden, Fielhaber
amf- Donovan, Dempsey
fw- Altidore, Davies (I hope), Clark (for lack of anyone else)

Sometimes I wonder if he has any idea where the ball is going when he plays it on the ground. His crosses are nice, but his touch and consistency is without doubt the worst on the team. He had Edu on a run inside the 18 at one point in the 2nd half WIDE OPEN and just kicked it over the end line.

I think Dempsey would have made this game interesting.

I thought Spector looked pretty good but that black dutchman was giving him fits. He definitely gets up and down the field nicely and plays well on the attack.

I also thought DeMeritt played well. Very tenacious.

Post-game thoughts from a "certified" rec leaguer..<div>
</div><div>- Beasley was probably the best player the US had today</div><div>- Hope Holden's injury isn't serious. ****** tackle by Dutch player and wish someone would have kicked him back after that.</div><div>- Holden had some very good crosses and play down the flank before his injury.</div><div>- Dutch are very good, technically and can hold the ball all day. I'll say they are better than England overall. </div><div>- Backline REALLY needs Gooch back soon so Boornstein can return to the bench.</div><div>- Thought the new guy (#17) did okay. He was better than Findley who did nothing.</div><div>- Edu played pretty well as a holding mid and seemed to keep things under control.</div><div>- Wondering if Donovan will be moved back into a withdrawn forward position - he was a non-factor most of the day. Then again, the US had such little possession in the final 3rd.</div><div>- Here's hoping Dempsey gets back soon. Need his abilities and experience back - could see some of the new guys were lost today.</div><div>- Overall, not great. Not terrible either. Last 20 minutes was encouraging and something to feel good about. Didn't think the ref did the US any favors on some ticky tacky calls but nothing major either. Boornstein's penalty was the height of stupidity - may get away with that in MLS but not against Wesley Sneijder or a top national team.</div><div>
</div><div>Onward to South Africa! I'm getting excited now. 99 Days to go!</div><div>

if he might be better suited off the front line. That was a seed. I haven't seen any of our midfielders hit many shots like that. I think he should stay up top, but maybe a little behind another striker (I would put Dempsey or Donovan there) because I feel like he can be really dangerous picking up passes along the 18 and drilling shots. What would be really interesting would be running only Donovan up top, with Jozy and Dempsey just slightly behind in a support/striker position. It could be very effective with Donovan receiving balls and feeding left or right to Jozy/Dempsey or trailing to Jozy for that reaper of a shot.

I would love to see Altidore/Demps up top with Landon behind, but Bob would never allow that. I hate to say it, but I can already see him playing Ching and Altidore up top and the US scoring3 goals in the group stages and barely making it out of the group.
