Yours truly (soccer hater for life) is currently leading his office world cup pool by one game. I correctly predicted Argentina over Nigeria, US-ENG tie, Germany over Australia, Ghana over Serbia, Netherlands over Denmark, Slovakia-NZ tie, Brazil over North Korea, and Chile over Honduras...

With the picks listed below, do I have a shot? I didn't even glance at the FIFA rankings when I made my picks... and I honestly only knew that Brazil, Germany, France, Portugal, Spain, and the Netherlands were the heavy weights... Do I have any hope of maintaining this lead?

Here's the rest of my picks:
South Africe - Uruguay tie
France over Mexico
Argentina over Korea
Greece over Nigeria
USA over Slovenia
Germany over Serbia
Ghana - Australia tie
Netherlands over Japan
Cameroon - Denmark tie
Italy over New Zealand
Slovakia over Paraguay
Brazil over Ivory Coast
Portugal over Korea
Spain over Honduras
Chile - Swiss tie
Mexico over Uruguay
France over South Africa
Greece - Argentina tie
Nigeria - Korea tie
USA over Algeria
England over Slovenia
Australia over Serbia
Germany over Ghana
Japan - Denmark tie
Netherlands over Cameroon
Paraguay over New Zealand
Italy over Slovakia
Korea - Ivory Coast tie
Brazil over Portugal
Swiss - Honduras tie
Spain over Chile

Depending on the other picks in your pool. It's so hard to tell though because upsets can happen so easily. And if someone gets a red card and has to sit out the next game, it could really screw you.

Lots of circumstances come into play, but I think most of the picks have a shot at being correct.

even baseball in Japan has ties. They should honestly do them here too. Nobody wants to be at a ball game at 3 AM in the 18th inning.

NFL has ties, and while they aren't in your rule of "regularly" there have been seasons where there are 2 ties. NCAA football had ties for a very long time too.

I think basketball is an exception to this though.

I suppose you're a huge fan of volleyball, nascar, and track & field.
