Yeah, I've been questioning them and I think they're going to have to fight to get in a regional against a top west coast seed again, or another SEC team possibly. Pitching is not very good after the ace and it's two terrible losses with the SEC firing up next week.

Slight correction: Now 3-17 Northwestern State of Louisiana, not the Big Ten Northwestern.

Every year. Same story. We'll be a 2 seed in a regional somewhere.

It’s like clockwork. A few good early season wins & we start thinking, maybe this is the year softball breaks through. Then reality hits & it’s the same team we have every year.
Yep, started out strong, got a couple of ranked wins, and only lost to #7 Duke on that opening weekend. Then it turns out Duke maybe isn't that good. First real sign of trouble I saw was Jacksonville State, but a lot of folks here said Jax State threw their ace and that Conference USA is a good softball conference. There's no excusing this one though. Played NW State twice this weekend and got outscored 7-3 over both games.

We keep having a focus issue. It's been lingering around this program for awhile and they know it. Players have mentioned it. They'll get some nice wins then just not show up for a game. They've got to learn to show up every game. But the pitching is not incredible and the power surge isn't sustainable IMO but hope I'm wrong. Regardless, they're going to fight for a regional spot and considering Mississippi has no softball talent to recruit, that's a great job. Covid took out a great team that was likely a super regional team too, or the program would look better.
