Do FCS., D-II and D-III conferences hold football championship games or do they just go right into 24-32 team playoffs?
In FCS there are championship games except for the MEAC and SWAC. I do not know the answer for for D-ll and D-lll

Hey listen, I'm leaving for the Wofford/Norfolk State game in a little while - one win between them. What can I say?

Winning the SEC or B1G will always be a big deal.
I hope you are correct. But as college football seems intent on becoming the NFL, I worry winning a conference championship will be about as big a deal as winning the NFC East.

I think that one thing which might threaten the value of conference championship games is the proliferation of noncontiguous conferences like the B1G and the ACC - which I hate. The loss of parochiality might diminish the pride and passion attached to winning such a game. I hope not.

I could see that, but then you've got guys transferring in January, and not in school for 4 or 5 months.

No real reason they couldn't. There used to be requirements for progress towards a degree per year, and that might affect that requirement. If it still exists.
I imagine the courts will soon rule that football players won't even have to be students.

The original idea of athletic conferences was for "like-minded" schools in the same geographic footprint to band together and conduct championships in the various sports.

I think this still holds true for the most part at FCS and below.
