And they are suggesting that everyone have a Coronavirus emergency kit, similar to that of a hurricane or other natural disaster kit. At least 3 days of non perishable foods, bottled water, and prescription medicine among other things!!

So we are losing power, gas, and running water now?? Seriously, who thought that was a good idea to release that statement?

CDC is recommending 8 weeks of mo gatherings larger than 50 people.

So get ready to be staying home for a couple of months. I don't know if that means power and water is going down.... probably not.

But when we are all forced to stay home....which we will be and we should.....there will be a lot of people wanting to resist and show how tough they are.

I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't isolating issue with idiots taking to the streets and causing unforseen issues.

But regardless, be prepared to stay home for a while

Yea I get we are probably head for a shutdown of non essentials and such but there has been no natural disaster and loss of power and water or transportation or ability to grow and manufacture supplies and food, and there shouldn’t be as far as I know.

I plan to follow protocol

The CDC/govt issued info is the protocol I aim to follow.

Point being, I'm prepared to shut it down for a while

I agree I see no reason to assume not would. I do agree that it's generally smart to keep 3 days supplies.....but this is probably good message but bad timing. People don't need to over purchase and panic buy.

This isn't the end of the world, just a couple of really strange months. Going to put a strain on our medical infrastructure, but food water and power can go on

Yep. It looks like I’m not going to shows later this month in Jackson and the Sturgill Simpson - Tyler Childers show that was going to be in a week was rescheduled to be April 24. It’s only a matter of time before that gets postponed again or canceled.

I was also planning on going to my nephew’s graduation from The Citadel but that’s also within that 8-week CDC guideline— so I’m sure there’s something going to be announced from them too.

Edit to add: I’m much more concerned about my mother and stepfather in the Hattiesburg area— they’re 79 & 80 respectively as well as my 80+ year old aunt and uncle in Indiana & I live and work in the Jackson area.

I feel the same way. We owe it to the elderly and at-risk population to follow protocol as best we can. I personally think our hospitals will be overrun by the end of this week. The process for getting a COVID19 test seems inconsistent. This is going to get worse before it gets better. How soon people begin to limit their public exposure will determine how much worse it gets before the curve starts to flatten a bit.

Any idiot that is unprepared for three days of non-utility, non-government assistance is a freaking skag to society. Pretty17ing small ask to be self sufficient for a few days. Damn...

As an aside: what’s yalls opinions on this.

We’ve had a turkey hunt planned in South Tx for the first weekend in April. It’s socially isolating, but would require travel to get there.

What say ye? Frowned upon? Go, but be vigilant and proactive with health safety? Cancel and assume the fetal position in the corner of a dark room? We will be driving, not flying, so we could reasonably avoid people the entire trip.
