<div>I was way ahead last week until I decided late to triple up on Indiana -7 vs Ball State, and BSU beat 'em straight up. Still finished ahead, though.</div><div>
</div>Last night: <div>Had Oklahoma State -14 vs Arizona big. Like 5 times big.</div><div>
</div><div>Tonight:</div><div>Earlier in the week (I like to make my picks as soon as the odds come out after some quick research) I picked Arizona State -7 vs Missouri, and again later in the week at ASU -9. The line is now ASU -9.5. (My reason behind the pick: Missouri only beat Murray State 21-9 last week, and ASU beat UC Davis 48-14. Mizzou's new QB is nowhere near as good as their previous two, Blaine Gabbert and Chase Daniels. ASU having a big Black Out at home vs Mizzou)</div><div>
</div><div>Also picked a 3pt teaser. I've only done a few teasers, and didn't win any. This time I picked a 3pt teaser with ASU -6.5 and FIU +7.5 at Louisville. I like FIU, but I'm not confident enough in them to pick them +4.5 at Louisville. I just don't like picking underdogs or visiting teams. Like I said last week, I mostly stick to home favorites I think will beat the spread.). </div><div>
</div><div>Saturday:</div><div>Wisconsin -21 early and again -22.5 vs Oregon State (OSU lost to an FCS team at home last week)</div><div>
</div><div>Iowa -7 at Iowa State (ISU barely beat Northern Iowa by 1 last week, Iowa beat TennTech 42-14.. Last year, ISU lost 35-7 at Iowa)</div><div>
</div><div>Ohio State -20.5 and again -21 vs Toledo (OSU continues to overcompensate for their controversies)</div><div>
</div><div>Auburn +7.5 vs MSU (as discussed in other threads, I really hope I lose this one)</div><div>
</div><div>Temple -16 at Akron (Akron is bad bad bad, and Temple is still decent. TU was favored over FCS power Villanova by 9 last week, and Temple won 42-7)</div><div>
</div><div>Texas -6.5 vs BYU. (a lot of media picking BYU in an upset, but the BYU team I saw last week on TV vs OM didn't look very good. UT beat Rice 34-9 last week)</div><div>
</div><div>Houston -23 at North Texas (Why is this only -23? UH beat UCLA last week and North Texas lost to FIU 41-16)</div><div>
</div><div>Louisiana-Lafayette +10 at Kent State (going against my usual trend to picking home favorites, but won with ULL +37 at OkState last week. I like Hudspeth and think he's quickly going to turn UL-L around. ULL scored more than twice number of points (34) at OkSt than Arizona did (14).)</div><div>
</div><div>Edit: added Louisville -4.5 for the 2nd half. They are down 21-10 at halftime to FIU.</div><div>

<div>I love your Wisconsin pick, too.</div><div>
</div><div>And UConn +2.5 at Vandy. I know little of UConn, but I'll take points against Vandy any day.</div>

Indiana's new head coach, one KEVIN WILSON, laid a huge egg in his debut with the Hoosiers. In tribute to Coach Wilson, I would like to remind everyone of his quote after he supposedly turned us down three years ago.

“I talked to my wife and looked at schools for my kids, I know it’s an
SEC job, but I’m not going somewhere saying I’m going to be there two or
three to four years and lose,” Wilson said in a telephone interview
last month. “If you go somewhere, that’s where you are.”

Here's to you Coach Wilson. Enjoy Bloomington in December.

Kevin Wilson was another reason I picked Indiana over Ball State, because I thought he would make Indiana better. <div>
</div><div>After DawgatAuburn's reminder of what Wilson said about MSU, all I have to say is: </div><div>
</div><div>Suck it, Kevin Wilson. We made the MUCH better choice in hiring Dan Mullen.</div>

I just now took Stanford -23.5 at Duke. <div>
</div><div>
</div><div>However, I see Vandy's new coach turning that team around somewhat, and UConn lost their HC Randy Edsall. I was going to take Vandy minus the points, but both Vandy and UConn won big last week, too, so I stayed away. </div><div>
</div><div>I might be taking Vandy soon, though. Maybe even in two weeks against OM.</div>

Notre Dame +4 - ND moved the ball at will last week and I'm not a believer in Big Blue...yet.

St Louis Rams +7 over Philly (Love the home dogs on opening day)

San Diego - Minnesota - Over 42 (Looking for SD to score...alot)

Lost with Kentucky and Indiana (dang basketball schools) and Syracuse -7 vs Wake Forest was a push. Also lost with South Carolina -20 and Missouri -17. An early in the week pick with Syracuse -6.5 won, but a late in the week pick for Syracuse -3 in the first half lost. And like I said, I felt confident in Indiana and late in the week quadrupled up on Indiana -7 vs Ball State and lost 4x(just checked and it was 4x not 3x)on Kevin Wilson. Bastard. <div>
</div><div>Won with Vandy -14.5 vs Elon, Florida International -13.5 vs North Texas, Mississippi State -28 at Memphis, Northwestern -3 at Boston College, Ole Miss +3 vs BYU, Louisiana-Lafayette +37 at Oklahoma State, Louisiana Tech +14 at USM, Ohio State -33 vs Akron. I had West Virginia -21.5 but that was cancelled due to the game getting called early (I was happy--I thought I had lost as WVU was up 21 when the game was called)</div><div>
</div><div>I used "free play" funds on Ole Miss, so if I had lost nothing would have come out, but I won anyway. THAT one couldn't have worked out any better.</div><div>
</div><div>I also did some NFL preseason last week: won New Orleans -5.5 (not last night vs GB), lost Green Bay -.5 1st half and GB -3 whole game, won Seattle -1.5 1st half, won Seattle -3 whole game, won Seattle -1/2 1st qtr. </div><div>
</div><div>As I wrote in a post before, when I first started back doing this this summer I started mediocre in baseball, then lost on 2 MMA favorites, and quit until football started. Did fairly well on NFL preseason.</div><div>
</div><div>I guess that all works out to be about 13 wins, 11 losses last week. Dang Indiana--I normally do better with my first hunches, and not as well with last minute picks. Indiana proved that right this time. </div><div>
</div><div>At least I'm starting out way ahead this week with a 5x winner in OkSt -14 vs Arizona. I felt really good about that one early on. I think all of the rest of my picks are 2x (double my initial x amount) this week. We'll see how it turns out.</div>

I though about taking Texas (6.5) this week but I thought they struggled a little with Rice. I remember the game being close towards the end of the third. Im going out on a limb with TCU (-1) at Air Force. I think they match up better than with Baylor and will be out to prove something. Im no expert</p>

Seem to have better lines on some of these

Ohio State -18
Stanford -20.5
Notre Dame -3
MSU -5.5
Iowa -6.5
Houston -21.5
Alabama -10
Wisconsin -20.5

Is taking the favorite how most of yall usually end up? I just look at things like "Yeah they'll win by that much" rather than "Na they wont lose by that much"
Maybe just me

I like to concentrate on taking the favorites that I think will win by more than the spread, especially home favorites, but that's just me. I like to keep it simple. I like to try to stick with picks that I feel confident in, vs. just picking winners like you would for a free poll. When I'm doing well, I find that I pick more games that I just feel ok about, and I'll lose more of those.

I can post my picks on Thursday. Most of mine will be in by Monday/Tuesday. I've been finding that most of my lines got worse after I made my picks. Like getting ASU -7, before it moved to -9 and then -10. Now, apparently betus.com hits the favorites harder than other sites, so that's working aginst me, but oh well. I'm managing so far.

p.s. I picked up ASU -6.5 for the 1st half before the game tonight vs Mizzou.

ASU makes the PAT, and I win ASU -6.5 1st half. I didn't see the play, but I saw the score--ASU 16, Mizzou 10. Mizzou was 'given' their TD, too. ASU stopped them on 3rd down inside the 10 yard line, but a bogus PI call gave Mizzou the 1st down inside the 5, and they scored the TD. That pass was in no way catchable, so PI should not have been called.<div>
</div><div>Stupid Android phone cost me the 2nd half Louisville pick, too. I had UL -4 in the 2nd half chosen, but the phone was taking too long, and the line changed to -4.5. If it would have stayed at -4, I would have pushed, instead of lost.</div><div>
</div><div>Oh well, them's the breaks. Stuff like that happens. I've had basketball teams +4 who were losing by 2, and I'm about to win the bet. They then hit a buzzer beater to go into OT, then lose by 7 in OT. Sucks, but sometimes you win like that, too. </div>

Bsm-most peoples final cards are full of favorites. Like you said, it easier to take the better team and tell yourself they will cover. That being said, the money is to be made on the underdogs. Especially home underdogs. Example: everywhere I have read says Stanford should cover 21 points at Duke with ease (I would agree) but I wil not touch that one. High majority of public will be on Stanford. It would not surprise me to see a Duke cover.
