6A - Olive Branch vs. Petal - A couple of first timers and the top 2 QBs in 6A this year. I think Alford may be a little banged up and I think OB has the better team anyway.

5A - Picayune vs. Starkville- A couple of programs with great tradition but it's the first time back to Jackson in a while for either one. I really have no idea, but I'm going with Picayune. First time in a while the best team from South 5A has actually made it to Jackson.

4A - Lafayette vs. Laurel - Watch out for Laurel. They're real good and their QB has put up great numbers. In most years, they could win 4A. Not this year though. Lafayette is just too good and too experienced. ETA: Laurel is coached by one of my favorite former Bulldogs, Milton Smith from Starkville.

All of the MS State Championship games will be on ESPN3 for those who cannot get the TV feed.

If someone else has already mentioned this, consider this a reminder.

There was a good write-up on him in the CL, but it sounded like his height (5'11") was keeping him from getting looks from the big boys.

Is he an athletic guy, who could maybe play another position?

I'll be at the game tonight, surely wishing that we had a shot at Alford coming and playing 2 sports...

Both running and passing. And he has a knack for making the big plays that win games. No idea why he's not getting any offers from BCS schools.

Mays is the same height as Alford. They are both 6 feet. Mays is very very accurate passer and impossible to bring down. He is strongest player on OB team. Mullen was offered Mays and Cowan and evidently didn't bite. Mays is willing to play different position but he runs the spread offense at OB like a pro.
