the basketball or soccer haters that have to post in every damn topic about either sport.

I think I am going with basketball b/c soccer just isn't as big. If Larry Bird was dominating the league, I have to think the racists on this board would love the NBA.

Someone who calls NBA players thugs and then in the next sentence says they love the NFL is pretty funny.

I think it's not MMA but the fans that annoy me. Though now that I've got ESPN 3D, I find myself watching sports I previously didn't. I watched two hours of boxing and an hour of soccer even last weekend.

I fully admit that I would get killed in an MMA match. Dead.

vendors, ticket personnel, restaurants, other business owners.....as for the players, well I really could not care less. However, they probably are no more greedy than the owners. Team owners used to take all the risk but nowadays the taxpayer is often underwriting stadiums and other facilities. So now the little people should actually have stock in the teams. But nope, they just get higher ticket prices to go with the higher concessions, parking, etc. It would be awesome if the little people would stop going to games and especially band together to stop buying anything from a company who advertises for the NBA. Of course that is totally unrealistic to expect that. So the only thing that will happen from this agreement is the little people are now privileged people who can now have a job. All sports of any kind have come to this....yes, even college football/basketball. It is about money and only money. Therefore, you have club level seating, licensing of seats..whatever. Wow, I am ranting. I need to stop doing that, get my 3 Egg Bowl tickets in my pocket at $70 a pop, fill my car up with gas for $50, go to the bank and get some cash...maybe a 100 bucks or so. Oh, I really need to get some extra cash cause my rain ponchos are not cool anymore. Hmm...maybe I can find some of those for $25 bucks each. Oh and I almost forgot cash for the special gold Egg Bowl shirts. Dang, that is another maybe $50. Let's see...I think I will have almost $500 in this game by the time it is over. This "little person" has got to stop doing this.....

They pay a **** load of income taxes and they spend money like they`re on drugs. The dollars they make definitely circulate.

because everytime I watched a regular season game all I saw was a bunch of big athletic guys horsing around playing a sandlot version of the college game that I like very much. I got the feeling that the games didn`t mean anything to the players becausethey were just1 out of sooooo many regular season games. It just started to feel like it was just a show to highlight individual athletic skills rather than an athletic contest between teams. I guess I`m just one of DS` racist SPSers.

I've seen some great defense and incredible offense in that league. I imagine there are some flat games, but I haven't seen it too often. I do remember a Howard Cosel (spelling?) radio editorial years ago that said the same thing you are saying. Bottom line is it's okay if you don't like the NBA, but I for one appreciate the high level of athleticism and team play that is displayed by that league.

With all the offensive talent in the league, if they weren't playing defense scores would routinely be in the 140s. I don't like the NBA personally, mostly because there's way too many times you wind up with 8 guys standing in the corner while 2 guys go 1-on-1. But I find that it's pretty easy to just not watch it instead of ***** about it.

I'd get into NBA ball more if the season were shorter. Each game would actually mean more. And more teams would be on tv...assuming the season was as many months as it currently is.

When the playoffs last for months on end and it's nickname is the second season, your product is too drawn out.

Condense it and make each game mean more. More to the players and more to the results which = more to the fans.

Team play? Really, that is what you are going to suggest the NBA is known for?

I fully agree on the athleticism. Most of those guys are freaks and it is amazing to see their abilities on display.
But team play? That doesn't go with athleticism. The current rules on what is and isn't a foul, especially when it comes to defending a guard, reward individual play. It's 1 on 1 play, or at best 2 on 2 with a perimeter player and post man. Fast breaks are individual play or again, 2 man play at best. And that's not complaining, it's just sizing up what's really going on in the league.

4 or 5 years ago, I did fantasy baseball with the college group that all does fantasy football

**** that was a disaster. I couldn't keep up. I tried, but just didn't care enough to focus every single day on all the games and math ups across the country.

Too much of a good thing dilutes what makes it a good thing to begin with.

the preening, the bragging, chest beating, players with too many and not-easily-discernible tats, and the emphasis on above-the-rim play and excessive dunking. Sure they're great athletes but many of them expend minimal effort during the regular season and skate by on athleticism. Off the court antics of certain players make me respect the league even less. It's simply not a league designed to entertain people like me and with my tastes. Qualifier alert: It's not a racial thing--I don't watch hockey either and I'm a huge fan of our national soccer team. Now that's a team that actually reflects the ethnic makeup of this country and has players that are easy to respect.

It's about sharing some identity, whether real or imagined, with a league and the players. I cheer for State and not Ole Miss not because our players are different ethnically and socially. I support them because I attended State. I identify with the team because we have something in common which not something I can say about any NBA team.

Did I say I liked the NFL? And Ochocinqo? And it's a matter of degrees and consistent behavior. There's a vast difference between Rodgers and some of the thugs in the NBA who brag whenever they make a decent play. In Chad's defense, he doesn't embrace a thug life--he's just a fun loving smart ***.
