Just doing some number crunching from our time in SEC play... here are some pretty telling numbers:
1. Our opponents have outscored us in the paint in every game but two (LSU, Alabama) by a total of 414 to 346. A difference of -68 points and an average of -5.23 a game.
2. A big one here... Our opponents have gotten 175 points off turnovers while we have gotten 121. A difference of -54 points and an average of -4.15 points a game
3. We have attempted 22 more FTs than our opponents and made 24 more for an average of 1.69 more trips to the stripe per game and making 1.84 more per game than our opponents (less than 2 points).
4. The kick in the nuts... we have turned the ball over 154 times and our opponents have 109 times... for a difference of 45 more times through SEC play and averaging 3.46 more TOs a game than our opponents.
I thought the TOs especially are complete killers. Only in Tennessee, Alabama, and Vanderbilt did the opponent turn the ball over more than us...and we won those games. Our opponents are getting more points off our turnovers than we are able to make up for at the FT line.
