can we only sign and place 25 recruits in the university and the rest have to go to JUCO? I'm sort of familiar with the new commit rules, but not too familiar, so I don't know what our restrictions are on how many we can sign.

in a given year sign and play football on scholarship. You can sign as many as 28. The excess over 25 go juco or gray shirt.

You can only sign a number you have room for though in the 85 man scholarship limit total. So if only 65 slots are open, you can only bring in 20 on scholarship.

We can sign 25 this year I believe.

I thought you could sign 28 and bring in 25 no matter how many slots are open on the 85 man limit. In your example, I think you could still bring in 25 scholarship players as long as you dropped 5 of the 65 returning players.

So, what happens if you have 26 scholoarships open?
You can still only bring in 25 max on scholarship for the fall semester, even if you oversign. If guys were greyshirts or January enrollees they can "count" towards the previous years total

it's possible that James Carmon and/or Vick Ballard can count against last year's total. Meaning our total class could be 26 or 27 players this year. But thanks to Houston Nutt, we can only sign 28. </p>
