Getting a bit parched, with the lack of humidity and all. Can I get a glass of water or something? Maybe a pillow to sit on? This marble is really hard.

And just to clarify, lamenting the fact that some posters on this board actually dislike Bears fans simply because of the team they pull for is elitist and sanctimonious?

If I want a kid to do well, I don't come down him on a message or spread facts and/or rumors talking bad about him and how he might fail. But that's just me.

He stated that he doesn't think Quay will play football for State for whatever reason. He didn't call the kid names, or disparage him (I didn't read the bet thread, so maybe he did. If so, disregard this post) in anyway, he simply stated his opinion that he doesn't think either of them will play football for State. In this thread, he said that he hopes it's not true and that he wants Quay to be successful, but that doesn't mean he believes it will happen. Wanting a kid to be a success and that actually happening are not mutually exclusive of one another.

Number one he came here and said we would never get Evans. Nope. No Way. Not gonna happen. Well it happened.


Now Quay commits to MSU and all the sudden there are problems and Yancy and crew dress him down on the spirit. UM lemmings swallow hook and sinker.


Now mr self righteous tells us his rock solid sources, of course either reside on the spirit or rivals, say he will never play a down as he allegedly enrolls at MSU. Pretty much stalking him even though UM is not in the picture.


And you weep for us?? You come here and give this whole moral high ground speech after he admittingly keeps close tabs on a player that evidently is all but started at MSU? Oh but he wants what is best for him... Yea ok.

He hears unsolicited details about recruiting in Mississippi from people he deals with everyday that volunteer the info during random conversations, spends an hour or two on the internet passing some time, decides to post it on a message board simply to have something to talk about, others take is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too seriously because they can't wrap their brains around the fact that kids can and will change their minds almost daily about even the smallest details, let alone big decisions and now, we find ourselves arguing over who is more pathetic, the guy who thinks a kid won't play football for State, or the State fans who defend him as if he's their first born son. And now I'm suddenly this "high n mighty moral snob" because I see how message boards affect people in bad ways...

Just like I want CJ Johnson to suck donkey balls. Nick Brassell to be horrible. Tobias Manning to never catch a pass. Doesn't mean I don't want them to be productive members of society. I just want them to suck while they play sports for Ole Miss. I hope they get 4.0 in school. Wait, nevermind - I hope they go buckshot on the grades b/c that effects APR.

If I run over to NAFOOM and spout off about how you won't get player A but you do.. Then go on about how much trouble he is after it is apparent that MSU is not in the running for it, and further say that he will never step foot on the synthetic grass in Oxford from info from my "sources", I will be respected for my opinion and have guys like you defend me as long as I say I mean no harm to the kid. Gotcha. After all it would be from rock solid sources on Scout and Rivals and from the guys at the next table at Mugshots.

You want an honest opinion that most people won't admit to? They're all nothing more than hired hands. I want ours to do well, and I want everyone else's in the SEC to get arrested or flunk out of school. That's reality for most fans. We defend our own until they are no longer defensible, and we attack others at the first sign of weakness or impropriety, because they aren't our own. Case in point is Cam Newton. If he had come to MSU and the exact same scenario played out at MSU that played out at Auburn, the vast majority of your fans would not only still be defending him, but you'd be raising money to build a statue in his honor. Instead, he went to that other school, so he's a lying, money-grubbing cheater, and you'll never respect Auburn's 2010 national title.

Ultimately, the players exist purely for our entertainment on Saturdays in the fall. We all hope that our hired hands will uphold some sort of moral high ground and share our same love for Ole State U, but that's not always the case.

So I defended one of our guys on SPS and also made an observation that some posters here take this rivalry thing way too far, possibly to the detriment of their real life relationships. To be perfectly honest, I'd probably jump your *** something fierce if you came across with an attitude. If you were being civil and normal, then yeah, I'd like to think I'd defend you against some weirdo OM poster being all over the top. But... who knows?
