Butler is in Indianapolis, a major metropolitan area. There current players were recruited by a lot of name schools and chose to stay close to home. They don't have the money, but they have the location. We don't have the money, but we do have somewhat of a location advantage as Jackson produces quality basketball talent and Mississippi overall produces fairly well. The problem is we compete with money schools for that talent and forever we lost those battles. We have won more than we lost under Stansbury, but we haven't had the marquee NBA caliber player come to MSU because of the draft. Now, the rules have changed and I still will give Stansbury the benefit of the doubt until he misses on a few of Mississippi's top prospects.
Their current players were recruited by a lot of name schools? Really? They have 1 player from the top150 of theirrecruiting class.
Hayward was a 2/3 star depending onwhich service you use andwas also offered by Perdue andthat powerhouse IUPUI.
Howardis the only top 150 4*player on their team(Rivals) and an unranked 3* on Scout, and they have been recently winningIN SPITE of him, not because.
Shelvin Mack was an unranked3*/unranked 2* depending on which service and was offered by Marshall, Akron, Bradley, and Evansville...all 'name' schools, right?
Nored was an unranked 3*whohad an offerfrom WKU too, wow.
Veasley doesnt have any stars from Rivals and was offered by NIU, Bradley, SIU, Kent State, and Marquette. Save Marquette, thats hardly 'name' schools.
Thatgroup of players WAS NOT recruited by a bunch of name schools. Not even close. They chose to stay close to home because Butlerwas their best offer almost every time.
Asfor MSUforever losing out to money schools for recruits...huh? Who exactly are you referring to?
