Somebody needs to tell Sha-chef-skie that Dook is too white...

You can't compete at a national level with the classes he's bringing in. Singler, Scheyer and Henderson are good enough, but they are the only three, and they should be the second, third and fourth options. They don't have a first option. And the lack of big men since Boozer and Brand is appalling. Shelden Williams is about it.

But you can't tell me those guys aren't out there and would love to be Blue Devils. Carolina is no slouch school and look at their roster..Hansbrough, Lawson, Ellington, Green, Thompson.......loaded..

When Duke was at its peak in the 90s, a lot of those guys out there now were in lower elementary school. When Laettner hit "the shot", these players being recruited now were in diapers. I don't think there are a lot of guys that just hope and pray they get the chance to play for Duke anymore. I think the landscape has changed.

He's said on his radio that he thinks AAU is the worst thing that's ever happened to college basketball.

If he's not willing to deal with the scum coaches and "handlers", he's going to have a hard time finding top shelf talent.

That shot (as noted below) was 17 years ago tomorrow. But Duke has been "elite-good" again since that, really twice. The Jason Williams, Battier, Dunleavey, Boozer era in the late 90s and early 2000s and then the Redick and Shelden Williams teams of a few years ago. The problem in my eyes anyway is that the talent has been too spotty. It might look good no signing day, but not so much on opening day.

Here are the last several classes..........lots of stars...not much production.

I can only imagine this board if Stansbury had landed that many 4-star and 5-star guys that didn't do jack **** in college. I've never even heard of some of those guys.

What do you think the problem is? As much as I dislike K, there is no doubt the guy can coach.

Duke wants you? Here are some stars.

Of course, those guys could have been McDonald's All-Americans for all I know, but I don't recognize a good bit of those names either.

You just described what happened to Tubby Smith at UK. I think old school guys like Tubby and K probably hate the AAU influence on college hoops today and I can't say that I blame them. Everything goes in cycles and after this AAU mess brings down a program or two - and it will - old school will be back in style. Until then, guys like K are dinosaurs.

I actually think with the success he had in the Olympics, he may actually give the pro game a look. Some people may think that's AAU on steroids, but I think the NBA has done a pretty good job of cleaning up its act in the last few years.

You could be right, but I think he is done dancing with the NBA. He's had the chance to take the reigns of the two most storied franchises in the league - Boston and LA - and passed the both up.

Meo, the players listed that you havent heard of either turned into stiffs like Pocius and Zoubek, role players like McClure and Thomas, transferred out like Boykin, Boateng and King, or went to the NBA early, like Deng, Livingston (never went to Duke) and McRoberts. Of the transfers, Boykin and Boateng were both post players. Boykin was a starter for Cal's NCAA team this year, and Boateng was a reserve with Arizona State. Something tells me either of them is better than Zoubek and Lance Thomas. Well, maybe not Boateng. The other one, Taylor King, was a guard with Redick type range. He surely enjoyed last night's game from his seat on the Nova bench where he is sitting out the season as a transfer.

And Sesh, yes I think you are right on the stars. They get bumped up a notch when Duke is interested I would guess.
