I swear I have never run across another State fan that likes to prove MSU fans wrong about their own team as much as you do. It is sad that you really do enjoy when we struggle

his mantra that our defense would suck this year because Johnson was gone and because Harbison wasn't qualified because he once coached WR's. Myth busted. Our defense has been good enough, coupled with even a mediocre offense, to win 7 or 8 games. The problem with this charlie foxtrot lies entirely on the offensive side of the ball, and the philosophy we are trying to employ with no success, coupled with piss-poor game decisions and game management and personnel decisions made by our incompetent assclown coach.
250 yards after 3 quarters is on pace for 333 yards for the game. That's not great, but it's not bad at all either. Like I said, there's plenty of things to ***** about about this team, but the defense is decent. Not great by any means, but it's plenty good enough to get a team to a bowl game.
that you determined how well a defense performed by only using the first 3 quarters. Besides that, 250 yards through 3 quarters isn't bad. That would only come out to 333 yards for the entire game, which is a mediocre offensive output this day and age. A good, competent offense should be able to put up close to 400 yards. In fact, 400 yards would put you 37th in the nation in offense - only in the top 1/3. 333 yards would rank you 81st. Not to mention they only scored 14 points, and we held them below their average for the season.

We have only faced 4 teams with an offense ranked higher than 96th...(Kentucky is 96th and falling since their QB and RB got hurt)
Against those 4 teams- all losses- we have given up 116 points- 29 points a game- thats not really good defense

UK averages 22 ppg. Scored 14 on us.
Vandy averages 21 ppg. Scored 14 on us.
Auburn averages 19 ppg. Scored 3 on us.
UT averages 18 ppg. Their offense scored 20 on us.
La Tech and GA Tech were the crap games. Other than that, I'd say our defense has held its own and has been more than good enough to win 7 games with a mediocre offense to go along with it.

I expect our offense to score more than 14. Well not this offense but another offense that could score. You are a *** guzzler if you call out the defense.

A SEC team should be able to score over 14 in any game, so if you manage hold the other team to 14 or less, you should win every time.
Um... the defense is pretty damn close to great. 20th nationally with as much time as they've had to spend on the field b/c of a bad offense is about as much as you could ask for. On top of this we've had a couple of crucial injuries and attrition on defense. We have no pass rush but still have a top notch pass D.
Who is this Coach 34 anyway, I'm fairly new to the board, but can already tell he's pretty much an idiot. And has he ever gotten a teaser right?

ranked higher than 96th in the nation...and those have averaged 29 points a game against us. Against a terrible D-1 AA team and 4 terrible offenses, our D has looked good. But we play the 61st, 59th, and 51st rated offenses down the stretch...
lets see if we are 20th after those games...

well, most of the time. Dont call out the defense because they are the only reason we have more than one win. Also the reason we were not blown out three more times. Ill give you the same signal gave to Arnil "Omega" Stallworth.

and if you dont like me being right, than you can eat a dick as far as I am concerned. We may be ranked 20th, but we arent a great defense. Ohio St was the number 1 ranked defense last year, and look what LSU did to them. Their schedule contributed to their ranking, just like ours has this year. We were much better on defense last year than we are this year. And i'm not saying its all coaching, I believe we had better players on D last year as well...
You are making a similar argument against MSU's defense that many on here used against your high opinion of Vandy's running game earlier in the season. It's funny that you argued agains this type of logic then but employ it now. Consistent I see.

Harbison has done a helluva job with the defense. He lost a solid cornerback before the season ever started and his middle linebacker the first game of the season. And yet they have performed pretty well in all but a couple of games.MSUCostanza said:

The defense pitched a shut out in all but two drives on Saturday. That should be enough against a team like Kentucky.
To only scratch out two scores against Kentucky's overrated defense is ridiculous.
The defense should actually be pretty good next year with Johnson and Chaney back.
