...we fire Croom?".

I had to do a double take to make sure he was serious.

To ask "how far will it set us back" implies we have made some sort of progress. I honestly cannot understand where anyone can see progress. Yes, we won 8 games last year, based simply on big breaks and an oustanding defense.

If you look closely at last year and the other 4 of the Croom administration, you'll see the basic difference was two pick 6's (Bama/Auburn) and a punt return (UMiss).

My point is that the ONLY progress you can point to AT ALL in this 5 year run was that close to be the same as the other 4 miserable years.

You simply cannot count on those types of breaks to just be competitive.

This year was a GOLDEN opportunity to capitalize on a previous season with a lot of good breaks to get us turned around. We had 3 should be wins OOC and several traditional powers in the SEC that we not very good this year. LaTech, SEL, MTSU, Auburn, Vandy, Kentucky, Arkansas, Tennessee, LSU (yes, even LSU) were all VERY beatable this year. That is 9 games that we could have won if we were making said progress. We didn't even win half of them.

Instead, we laid one of the biggest eggs of a season I've ever seen us lay. Today was the culmination of the whole story, the summary being that we simply ARE NOT MAKING PROGRESS under Croom.

The man inherited a mess, we have character, we are doing it the right way, blah, blah, blah. All those things are perhaps true and important. However, at the end of the day you simply have to show some progress towards winning. Save a few big breaks in 1 of 5 years, and we simply have nothing to show in that direction.

Bad game time decisions, beyond bad offense and special teams, no QB in five years of recuiting, etc.

If anyone, anywhere can show me progress, and not just make excuses, please, please do so.</p>
