I think Peterson would be a good hire, but I don't necessarily think it'd be a slam dunk. Tubberville would be more of a slam dunk if you could land him, because you know what you'd get with him. With Peterson, you really don't know for sure.

For one thing, Peterson only has 3 years of HC experience, and they've all been in the Northwest at a non-BCS school. The 35-3 record and the innovative offense are both great, but you don't get to a 35-3 record unless you inherit a very good program. He'd probably triple his career loss total in his first year at MSU, because MSU is a far cry from the situation he inherited at Boise. For the other thing, he's never recruited in the Southeast, and he's never recruited at the BCS level. It's a much different game than recruiting at a non-BCS school. The strategies are completely different.

Again, I think Peterson would be a very good hire, but I just don't think it'll mean you'll automatically start winning overnight, or that you'll even necessarily compete for an SEC title at some point.

winning overnight with Tuberville. You can't take the players we have and run a conservative Sherrill type offense and win next year. Tubs is a long term program builder.

_________________________________________________ In rational and logical words explain to me why Petersen is the best hire MSU could make. You guys are going ape **** over here about this guy. It's like Cohen x10. What makes him such a good hire? I just don't see it. God knows he's a step up from Croom and should be a solid coach but again he's unproven. His predecesser who has basically the same career path and I assume the same offensive mind has been a giant flop at Colorado. Your team right now is worse than terrible. Without insulting me personally someone fill me in on what you're thinking.
Did your mother have sex while in the state of Alabama or something?

Hawkins did flop at Colorado. Interestingly enough, he did not take Petersen with him and Boise continued their success and even improved.

And, no, most of these dumbass rebs don't know Nutt had his start at Boise...
