For what it's worth, I blame the officiating as a consistent harm to our chances, and the fact that we forced a receiver from a Top 5 team to make a circus catch over a defender on 3rd and long with time running down. If he drops that like he really should of, we get a chance with the ball for the go ahead score. We did a good job on Saturday...Some posters' need to cast blame is astonishing.

Most were predicting another blow out loss to a ranked team. Instead, this team showed it belongs on the field in the Big Ten. Defense stepped up big time, and our new starting quarterback played a decent game. We also ran tough in the second half when most thought we wouldn't be able to run at all.

You know I'm no negatoid. But I'm also not quite ready to say we're all the way to being able to compete regularly w/the elite teams in the B1G.

We played really well Saturday. Was nice to see. But I have a long-standing theory that is only rarely disproved whereby teams that show a sudden huge improvement in play one week are almost certainly going to come back and crap the bed the following week.

So, despite the great effort last week, I'm keeping my expectations fairly muted at this point. If we play just as well against Indiana as we did against MSU, then I might raise my expectations slightly for the OSU game. And if we do it again against OSU, then I might raise them a bit higher still for the remainder of the season.

But I think OSU is way better than MSU (or PSU) and that as of last game, they've worked out some of their early season kinks. Unfortunately for us, I fear they will be hitting their stride and crushing most of their remaining opponents by the time they get to us.

I'm really beginning to wonder exactly how much thought people put into these posts. There are screw-ups, foolish plays and brain farts in just about EVERY GAME. What exactly is "held accountable" mean? You want to fire a coach or an OC over that? No, you're using it as an excuse to do so.

Just STFU. Please. I'm begging. Before I get any more stupid reading this drivel.

I lied. I didn't manage to grill it for lunch (because I waste too damn much time posting here and had work to do). So I just grilled it now and I'm about 2/3s of the way through the three pounds remaining. Now for the last pound.

Furthest I ever walked past Easton was Division and I thought that was sketchy at night. You want to avoid that area as much as possible. Once you go south of RWJ, you enter Crime Alert City. Very few parties past Easton these days and the bars are all north of there as well. Usually the kids that live in the area are the ones who acted late to get an off campus house. Not surprised nobody has ever heard of it.

Maybe these days but in the 90s it was easily well known in off campus rental housing circles. And as someone mentioned up thread, also in that time Plum Street Pub was a dive bar that most had heard of and perhaps stopped in at on occasion. On the map, I'd say the cutoff was more or less beyond Louis Street before the student rental market dropped off.

Just this past year. I know I'm a youngin'. A lot has changed. Personally, I only knew a handful of people that lived past Guilden and Delafield. My last year there it felt like there was a crime alert every other week in that area. What has also driven people away is the availability of more apartments. Livingston, George Street's are now off campus, and I even knew people that lived off campus in a house by the football stadium.

While I do want to see Rettig in a game, I have no problem giving everyone a pass on this. You may wonder why... and it is because all of football has taken away decision making from the QB and the players in-general.

IMO, I'd like to see things trend back toward training the payers to make decisions on the field. The hurry-up offense, for example, should produce some ability in on-field defensive captains to bark orders to the other 10 guys out there to call a defense based on game situations without having to look to the sidelines. And the same should be true on the offensive side.. allow the QB to take control and you won't have errors like that one... and if you do... well, time to see a new QB perhaps.

Last season, Fridge had Nova making the adjustments himself. I think it helps the QB but I also think it's tough to do with a first year starter.
