Can anyone give a legit synopsis of how the rest of recruiting looks for us the rest of this year?

Couple things I've noticed or have heard are that we have been close on Wells for a while, but he just wants to take all his visits. I've noticed that Carlton Martin still has his official lined up, which makes me wonder if there is still a chance he comes and we can maybe jump in and get him. I've heard some say that Vincent Sanders is not going to commit to us, I guess which doesn't surprise me since we have Johnson and Johnson commited and OM has 1 soft verbal from a WR. Also would like to know if there is any info out about Gates or Eatmon still thinking about coming to State. Just looking for some overall stuff to be looking out for as we head into this last little bit of recruiting.</p>

You are asking this to a board where every so called solid inside source to Newton said he was MSU bound?

Aw 17 it....We'll get Wells, Griffin, Robinson, Favre, Day. Possibly get Brunetti & Humphrey. We lose Sanders and Thompson to UM. Martin is already UM bound. Gates and Eatmon will not be at MSU. We might finish in the top 50 in recruiting this year. Overall, the class will not be great but better than some think.

Best case scenario: We get Robinson, Wells, Thompson and fill in the rest of the class with some "underrated" two star players and finish in the bottom third of the league in recruiting.......Not sure we get Thompson though.....I don't think we get Sanders either so it's very simple, our recruiting class is not gonna be as good as we all thought........

We should be fine. We have 4 four stars right now and we will finish with anywhere from five to eight four stars. (Wells-lock, Robinson, Thompson, Sanders)

Face it. Jamerson Love and Jameon Lewis are very underated. I don't care what their star power is, they are legit players.

I don't know why Brandon Hill is a 4 star on ESPN, 2 star on Scout, and not rated on Rivals.

This class could end up in the top 25, but I think we end up around 30ish. The class will be underated and you have to remember it's Mullen's first true year. He's trying to get MS kids and he has to build relationships with players and coaches.

Eaton is a major major project. He's fat and needs to add a ton of muscle. He's got his 3 star because of his size. Gates didn't impress me either, but Heavsy can probably turn him into a good O-Linemen. The O-Linemen I really want is O.C. Brown from Memphis. I think he's committed to Southern. Dillon Day looks real good and he will commit on the spot and I hope Claussell is good, I have no idea why they would have offered him so early if he sucked.

Mullen and staff have 2 really really good commits for next years class already. Next years class should be good. With that said our 08 class ended up being pretty good, our 09 class was really good, this 2010 class should be pretty solid, and hopefully that's enough of a foundation to win some games and boost our recruiting into 2011 and have a really good class hopefully in the top 15-20.

where have all of our underrated classes in the past few years got us? Nowhere.......

Even if we land Robinson, Wells, and Thompson, we will be no higher than 9th best in league.........I doubt we get Thompson, so we're looking at 10th or 11th......

Bottom line is this, this class is much worse than last years and that's disappointing given the fact that Mullen has had time to get on his feet......

Take off the Maroon colored glasses......

It is what it is........

Mullen will have to coach this talent UP.........

I'm in agreement that this class isn't as good (on paper) as some would like, one thing is certain...it's a shitload better than Crooms crap (regardless of "rankings")

I didn't know anyone ever said Croom's class was underated. They all sucked on paper and on the field. A few players ended up being good. His 08 Class was his best and it was okay.

this class might not be mindboggling or have the literal star power of last year, but consider this:

1) We have a true D1 wide receiver who was heavily recruited in Robert Johnson. How often does MSU get that?
2) Love and Lewis are underrated as they get. All-State, both on winning teams, and can fly. I'll take them.
3) Michael Carr is one of the best athletes in recent Mississippi high school football. He plays next year, and if he hadn't shut his recruitment down so early, he gets offered by the whole SEC.
4) Rajion Neal might start at tailback next year.
5) Solid pickups in Hughes, Bohanna, Virges, and Giles.
6) I'll take James Carmon all day long. Remember some of these DT's could be OL, who knows.
7) Need I say anything about Kaleb Euells?
8) Hill, Malcolm Johnson and Harrison are stretches, but everybody takes a few of them. At least they are all 6'2" and look like athletes.
9) Chisolm is gone thank God. We don't need him.
10) Ballard, eh - probably a stretch here too, as Bolden would have been.
11) Clausell is a stretch, but he's huge.
12) We're not done this year yet.

So why again is this class so horrible?

You literally know **** about recruiting.......NOTHING........In comparison to the rest of the SEC (for a remedial mf'er like you, this is the league MSU plays in) this is a below average class.......I'm not comparing it to CUSA standards........SEC!!!!!!!!! BTW, Carr is better than his 3 stars but he isn't going to qualify....Believe me on this one.......

look through GoatHolder/Curly Bill's post from the Croom era and see the exact recruiting rationalizations. He has a long history of it.

I'm not real worried. Not to mention, like I said, that this class isn't half bad, and we're not done yet. Nobody's even tried to break down my original post yet, because you can't.

Gene Swindoll, as so many of you rebels have pointed out, isn't exactly a recruiting guru. He's laughable and certainly the MSU version of Yancy Porter.

Try again you prickly little dick parasite.

Don't look now, but Rajon Neal is waivering. So is CJ Johnson, the top player next year. I'm not sure even Croom screwed up recruiting this damn bad.

Mullen did everything possible to get Newton. Newton picked a program closer to home that had more winning tradition than we do. And we almost got him. No MSU coach in my lifetime would have even gotten close on that one. Mullen has done a great job in all facets of the job since signing on. He's used "lesser" recruits to win 5 games on the hardest schedule in the nation. And the team executed remarkably better than the year before. I'm personally optimistic about this recruiting class. I think it's a little early to slit our wrists because we lost one recruiting battle.

He may not be a recruiting guru, but he is known for being the most homeristic MSU fan on the interwebs, despite overwhelming information to contradict his position.

how well they will do. Why should there be some kind of revelation in February? The only way to discount his post is to wait until those players actually see the field.

taking some other visits......Now, I can't confirm that he's officially waivering or not but I do know that he is drawing a lot of interest from other schools that might be considered higher profile programs......Can't say that I'm not a little worried though.......

"I know you team kicked my teams ***, but I'm going to a bowl game and you're jealous" is sort of funny.

I'm sure it would be impressive with many of the teams you beat this year that arent going to a bowl. You know the ones.

I'm sure it would be impressive to some teams you didnt play that arent going to a bowl.

But to the fans of a team that kicked your ***........

The difference between the two teams hinges on two things: OOC scheduling and the LSU game. That's the difference between State and Ole Miss.

How many just another teams boards you debating on today? All the ones that kicked your *** or just ours?

See the next most funny thing is the argument "we dont think your opinions are important, we just hang out here, you know, in this unimportant place to tell you that".

Let me help you back out of this since you cant quite figure it out. I just went to the LSU board and they are absolutely beside themselves with worrry wondering where you've been.
